Position Type: Full-Time Permanent (37.5 hours per week)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM (Alternating Opening and Closing Duties)
**Responsibilities**:
- Collaborate with volunteers in the kitchen, providing leadership and guidance to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
- Train and mentor kitchen staff and volunteers, promoting a positive and inclusive working environment.
- Conduct weekly inventory checks of fridges and freezers, ensuring proper storage/rotation and organization of food supplies.
- Develop and execute menu plans in collaboration with the organization's goals, dietary guidelines, donated food availability and seasonal availability.
- Ensure adherence to safe food handling practices and maintain high standards of food safety.
- Oversee the preparation and cooking of meals, ensuring quality, consistency, and adherence to established recipes. Plus flexibility to create a meal from unexpected donations
- Collaborate with the Weekend Volunteer Supervisor/Cook to provide support and guidance during weekend shifts.
- Coordinate with the operations manager to address any issues or challenges that may arise during kitchen operations.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of kitchen procedures and protocols.
- Collaborate with the organization's leadership team to align kitchen activities with broader organizational goals.
- Manage kitchen staff at fundraising events
Qualifications:
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience in a high-volume kitchen environment.
- Proven experience in menu planning, recipe development, and execution.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with volunteers and staff.
- Experience in training and mentoring kitchen staff and volunteers.
- Safe Food handling certificate
- Knowledge of safe food handling practices and commitment to maintaining a clean and
organized kitchen.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and priorities
**Salary**: $19.05-$23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
