**Opportunity**

PCRS requires an Auxiliary Youth Transitional Housing Worker who will work various shifts, including daytime, evening, and weekend hours to support youths/participants, and staff. Knowledge of local resources is required. The Youth Transitional Housing Worker aims to carry out the strategic objectives of Pacific Community Resources Society (PCRS) to ensure the provision of effective and efficient services to youth involved the program.

The Youth Transitional Housing Worker will provide 1-1 case management and support diverse youth residing in our Semi-Independent Living homes. Staff will provide one-on-one support, life skills and individualized goals as well as group activities such as house meetings and house clean. This position involves developing relationships with youth as well as liaising with professionals such as social workers, school personnel, and community staff. Provide individualized housing supports to vulnerable youth who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in the Vancouver area. Youth Transitional Housing Workers provide housing search support, moving assistance, landlord advocacy, and liaise with social workers to support youth to find, secure and move in to safe and affordable housing.

**Please note this position has varying hours that may include day, evenings and weekends and different sites.**

**Responsibilities**
- **1-1 Case Management**:

- Develop supportive and engaging relationships with youth, developing individualized service plans in consultation with youth participants.
- Assist youth in maintaining program expectations such as attending house meetings, maintaining house cleanliness, supporting participants to attend school, work or volunteer opportunities and maintaining connection with their other support workers.
- Maintain accurate case notes, monitoring youth progress, engagement and participation in the program.
- Other duties such as moving support, collection of rent, and other administrative tasks may be required.
- **Operational Duties**:

- Provide individualized housing supports to vulnerable youth who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in the Vancouver area. Some general housekeeping duties may be required.
- Provide housing search support, moving assistance, landlord advocacy, mediation and liaise with social workers to support youth to find, secure and move in to safe and affordable housing.
- Provide housing and life skills supports to youth residing in our Semi-independent living homes program and Outreach with youth to attend appointments and make community connections.
- Workers will develop relationships with youth in addition to liaising with professionals such as social workers, school personnel, and other community staff.
- May be called upon to support other programs and services in their day-to-day activities.

**Qualifications**
- B.A. in a related field plus two (2) years direct experience working with at-risk youth.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
- Criminal record check including the vulnerable sector.
- Valid BC driver’s license with Business insurance use and use of own vehicle (mileage paid); Driver’s abstract must be submitted
- Basic First Aid certification (OFA Level 1)
- Sound understanding of tenant and landlord rights.
- Sound understanding of housing related documentation.
- A thorough knowledge of relevant government legislation.
- Ability to respond to crisis scenarios using agency protocols and ethics.
- Effective team collaboration skills.
- Experience creating and working within a culturally inclusive environment for staff, partners, and participants.
- Strong verbal, interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle multiple, often conflicting priorities.

**Additional Assets**
- Strong understanding of anti-oppression, trauma-informed, and decolonizing practices
- Facilitation and program development training
- Training to address Depression/Suicide/Mental Health Assessment
- Additional training in substance uses treatment/support recovery.
- Second language in Cantonese/Mandarin, Farsi, Spanish or another language relevant to East Vancouver/Midtown community an asset
