Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board (HPEDSB) serves approximately 15,400 students each day at 38 in-person schools (31 elementary, two K-12; four 7-12, one secondary). Job Overview: The Manager, IT Learning Technology Team, is responsible for managing the information technology systems that support the academic functions of the Board. This role involves providing leadership in project management for all school-based classroom technology. This position is also responsible for maintaining system security, implementing backup processes, and developing disaster recovery plans, as well as providing technical support and training to the IT team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of hardware and software deployment, maintenance, and disposal across elementary, secondary, and administrative locations.
- Provide leadership in the cost-benefit analysis, requisition, and lifecycle management of all administrative and academic workstations, servers, and mobile devices.
- Coordinate with system personnel and vendors to ensure seamless integration and use of all IT systems for all staff and students.
- Lead the design and maintenance of data connectivity solutions to enable data sharing across all information systems and departments.
- Manage and lead project implementation from start to finish, including the development of plans for staffing, software, hardware, and training.
- Develop project budgets and prepare regular submissions to the Senior Manager of Information & Technology, including a multi-year equipment evergreen plan.
- Direct project staff by assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and evaluating the quality of work to ensure operations and project goals are met.
- Develop Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and liaise with vendors to secure new products and services.
- Implement and enforce security measures, including web/content filtering, to ensure safe internet use for all staff and students.
- Establish and maintain system security protocols, backup solutions, and disaster recovery plans to protect all board resources and ensure business continuity.
- Investigate and resolve security breaches, confidentiality issues, and misuse of information systems.
- Support the professional development of the security team and lead the creation of enterprise security standards, guidelines, and procedures.
- Coordinate the collection and submission of EQAO data, providing expertise and support to school and central office staff.
- Supervise Information and Technology staff, providing guidance, professional development, and performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with Human Resources, Curriculum Services, Special Education, etc. to identify and address IT training needs across the Board.
- Liaise with other school boards and external organizations to explore shared services and partnerships while protecting the security of board resources.
