**Summary**:
The Quality Control and Plant Superintendent is responsible for quality control and supervision of Lab and field technicians at Brennan Port Colborne operations. The incumbent will also provide overall direction to the Asphalt Plant and ensure efficient operations and optimal quality to maximize profitability while ensuring contract compliance.
**As a Quality Control & Plant Superintendent, You Will**:
- Adhere to the Miller safety standards, policies, and procedures. This includes following safe handling procedures for lab chemicals and proper use of PPE in the labs, plant and on sites.
- Submit preliminary testing schedules for successful bids during pre-job planning
- Familiarize with individual contract terms and expected outcomes regarding material quality for all Brennan Port Colborne jobs
- Implement and manage QC testing schedule for projects
- Schedule and manage plant and lab staff
- Maintain and track inventory and schedule material deliveries
- Price asphalt mixes for internal and external customers
- In case of non-conformances, liaise with owners and independent referee labs
- Lead plant set up and implement mix changes to produce mix that complies with contract specs while identifying and controlling costs to maximize revenue and profits
- Review tender specifications to assist estimating with asphalt costs
- Economize mix designs to yield favourable financial outcomes on large scale production
- Provide day-to-day technical and functional direction and support to improve professional successes and strengthen morale
- Create opportunities for technicians and plant staff to take on new responsibilities outside their normal job function to develop behaviours and competencies aligned with the organizations’ needs and standards
- Maintain Miller’s accreditation with CCIL and ISO. Adopt industry best practices in non conformance reporting, corrective action planning at the Lab and plant
**What You'll Bring**:
- College Diploma or University degree in civil engineering or related is field preferred. CCIL certification in Asphalt is required
- 3+ years’ related experience as lab/field supervisor for Paving on MTO projects. Some experience as an asphalt plant analyst or materials coordinator is required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Excellent writing and oral communication to communicate within the team, external vendors, owners, and consultants
- Superb organization and management skills
- Effective interpersonal/relationship building skills
- Effective problem-solving skills
