R&D Researcher will work within a motivated, dynamic and pleasant team on diversified projects related to high power CW fiber lasers (multi-kilowatts), mainly:

- Develop and test new fiber laser designs based on technical and cost objectives
- Be actively involved in various innovation projects in the field of high power fiber lasers in a scientific research environment.
**JOB DESCRIPTION**:

- In collaboration with multiple ITF teams, develop designs of different models of multi-kW CW fiber lasers based on customer requirements and physical limitations.
- Characterize lasers: measure and analyze spectra, power, beam quality, time traces, thermal, etc.
- Model theoretical laser designs and set up experimental plans for team technicians to minimize the number of experiments required for each hypothesis to be tested.
- Analyze the data collected by the technicians to draw conclusions from the experiments and validate the theoretical simulations and hypotheses.
- Keep up to date with the scientific literature on high power fiber lasers in order to better understand the physics involved, innovate in the solutions sought and optimize the prototypes.

**4. REQUIREMENTS**

**Education**:
Bachelor's degree in physics, engineering physics or related discipline. Master's degree an asset.

**Experience**:
At least 3 years experience in a research environment, ideally in optics, fiber optics or laser. Project management experience an asset. Laboratory experience is an asset.

**Knowledge**:
Strong knowledge of the Office suite, intermediate level of Matlab or Python programming for data analysis.

**Skills**:
Versatility, autonomy, initiative, collaboration, motivation and organization. Good oral and written communication in English and French
