La principale responsabilité du conducteur de véhicules à conteneurs est de transporter le fret entre les succursales et centres de tri et/ou de ramasser et livrer des envois montés sur des palettes de manière prudente, responsable et empressée. Les responsabilités incluent aussi l’utilisation fréquente d’appareils de manutention, le chargement, l’équilibrage des charges et le séquençage des unités de chargement.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

High school diploma

Twelve (12) months heavy vehicle driving experience preferred

Class AZ (Class 1) driver's license with good driving record required

Air brake certification required

Class 1 in Province of Quebec (includes air brake certification)

Must be certified and current in dangerous goods handling, operation of material handling equipment, ULD inspection to test FAA airworthiness, t-stacking

Ability to pass regular Provincial Transportation physicals and written tests

Ability to comply with new FAST (US custom regulations/criminal background check) regulations

For Drivers that have responsibility for Pick up and Delivery (PUD), must have demonstrated proficiency using PUD processes and all standard customs paperwork as outlined in the Courier training manual (required to complete and pass within the first 90 days of entering into a PUD position or as the training schedule allows as determined by the manager)

Pre-hire drug testing is mandatory for DOT cross-border drivers

Must be able to be certified by an accredited driver training institution of the company ‘s choosing

Professional driving ability

Broad (intra-provincial) geographical knowledge

Knowledge of inter-provincial regulations

Ability to read and interpret maps

Knowledge of emergency response procedures and who to contact; particularly in off-peak hours

Must have mechanical aptitude

Thorough understanding of ramp procedures

Cosmos experience an asset.

Customer service skills

Ability to multitask

Organizational skills, especially on the road

Analytical ability

Must be able to communicate effectively between hub, station facility management, and dispatch

Must be receptive and adaptable to change

CONNAISSANCES, COMPÉTENCES ET APTITUDES REQUISES

Diplôme d’études secondaires

Douze (12) mois d’expérience des véhicules lourds souhaitables préférés

Permis de conduire en règle de classe AZ (classe 1) et bon dossier de conduite.

Certification de freins pneumatiques.

Classe 1 dans la province de Québec (inclut la certification de freins pneumatiques).

Doit avoir la certification à jour concernant la manutention des matières dangereuses, l’utilisation de l’équipement de manutention, l’inspection des conteneurs pour tester la conformité aux règles de la FAA et l’empilage imbriqué.

Réussir les tests physiques et écrits du ministère provincial du transport.

Pouvoir se conformer à la nouvelle règlementation américaine de contrôle d’identité FAST (règlements de douane américains/vérification de casier judiciaire).

Dans le cas des conducteurs qui ont des responsabilités de cueillette-livraison : avoir démontré leur maîtrise des méthodes de cueillette-livraison et des documents de douane standard, tels que décrits dans le manuel de formation des messagers (cette formation doit avoir été complétée et réussie dans les 90 jours suivant l’entrée dans un poste de cueillette-livraison ou dans les délais indiqués dans le calendrier de formation déterminée par le directeur).

Les conducteurs de véhicules de la compagnie peuvent être obligés de subir des tests d’alcool ou de drogue en raison de la réglementation et d’autres exigences (par exemple, le transport transfrontière).

Ces conducteurs seront soumis à des tests de drogue ou d’alcool et à toutes les autres exigences connexes comme condition de leur poste de conducteur.

Tous les conducteurs devant traverser la frontière doivent subir un dépistage de drogue. Réussir la certification et l’accréditation par une école de conduite au choix de la compagnie.

Capacité de conduite professionnelle.

Vastes connaissances géographiques (intra-provinciales).

Connaissance de la règlementation interprovinciale.

Savoir lire et interpréter les cartes.

L’expérience de Cosmos est un atout. Habileté pour le service à la clientèle.

Pouvoir mener plusieurs tâches de front.

Capacités d’organisation, spécialement sur la route. Capacité d’analyse.

Pouvoir communiquer efficacement avec le centre de tri, la direction de la succursale et la répartition.

Doit être réceptif au changement et pouvoir s’y adapter.
