This summer student position will provide practical experience in key areas such as maintenance work covering painting, grounds, janitorial tasks and participating in a team. This supports the community by ensuring the affordable housing sites are well looked after as all rental sites are embedded within the overall citizen community. This supports the local priority of providing a student career related experience.

Specifically, the student will:

- Assist in the general maintenance and beautification of various Corporation properties
- The duties will include but are not limited to:

- Painting; this will mainly take place outside to include such areas as doors, railings, fencing. Inside painting will include painting common areas
- Lawn and grounds maintenance such as grass cutting, gardening, yard clean-up
- Janitorial tasks such as window washing and garbage clean-up
- Minor general repairs such as caulking
- Other duties as assigned

**LOCATION**:
Based at the Corporation Head Office at 28A Albert Street, Oshawa, with travel throughout our Brock Township properties**.**

**SUPERVISON AND MENTORING**:
This position will be supervised by Director of Buildings & Capital Assets and other key department staff will meet with the student to organize daily work plans and to provide input and direction. The student will participate in Mandatory Health & Safety Orientation prior to commencing any work.

**QUALIFICATION**:

- is a part-time or full-time student.
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment;
- be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations; and
- ability to arrange own transportation to and from site locations

**SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**:

- Enjoys working with hands
- Customer Service experience
- Word and Excel skills
- Mathematical aptitude, detail-oriented

**EDUCATION**:
Currently enrolled in High School or Post-Secondary Education
