Compliance Officer

**Purpose**:
The Compliance Manager will ensure that all AMCO companies/employees (Produce, Farms, Express, Storage) are following all relevant policies and procedures and that our food and employees remain in a safe working and living (when applicable) environment. This person will also ensure that the Human Resource Manager is trained in all offshore duties (LMIAs, etc.).
**Roles and Responsibilities**:
Food Safety
- Complete weekly, monthly and yearly audits and checklists, as well as record keeping
- Manage HACCP & food safety program
- Perform HACCP verification and validation activities.
- Review and maintain documentation of all manufacturing procedures for each HACCP program;
- Update facility HACCP system to ensure compliance with existing or changing regulatory requirements.
- Inspect the plant on a routine schedule.
- Monitor deficiencies and track corrective actions from the routine plant inspections.
- Lead Food Safety focused projects.
- Establish and maintain detailed written procedures for the cleaning of all processing equipment and facilities.
- Coordinate elements of the allergen control program including ingredient labeling, segregation, storage, clean-up process, verification of clean-ups, and validation of clean-ups
- Assist with Regulatory audits, 3rd Party inspections, Foods audits, customer inspections when necessary
- Being present during Ministry of Labor/Regulatory visits
- Communicate with key members of the supply chain to update and maintain the supplier verification program
- interaction with outside organizations to ensure ultimate compliance and coordinate efforts to ensure the company maintains all certifications
- Enforce pandemic protocols and liaise with the public health unit
- Health and Food Safety training for new hires and refresher training annually for employees as needed
- Sending microbiological samples to the laboratory
- Sampling Stormwater Ponds
- Monitor and log water taking times
- Monitor and log well water pumping rates using flow meter
- Track well water level data
- Prepare well water reports
- Attending webinars to keep up to date on Food & Health and Safety regulations
- Conducting risk assessments/hazard analysis
Health and Safety
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend appropriate measures to eliminate or mitigate risks.
- Act as Co-chair for Joint Health and Safety Committee, host monthly meetings and distribute meeting notes.
- Develop and deliver training programs on health and safety practices to employees.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine their root causes and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Provide guidance and support to employees on health and safety matters.
- Ensure that all required permits and licenses are obtained and maintained.
- Stay up-to-date on changes to health and safety regulations and standards and recommend changes to existing programs as necessary.
- Research and implement health and safety best practices initiatives across the farm.
- Work with Offshore Supervisor to implement health and safety measures in worker residences.
- Weekly inspection of offshore worker housing.
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor Degree in food safety or related areas
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in biosecurity or food safety compliance
- HACCP certification, PCQI, JHSC certifications required
- Industry knowledge in Greenhouse is an asset
- Strong organization skills
- Strong communications skills, able to cooperate with other team members
- Honest, reliable and dedicated
- Strong commitment on safety
- Ability to learn fast
