Reporting Analyst

Reporting to the Director, Actuarial Services, the Reporting Analyst will be responsible for providing data, as well as developing, optimizing, and maintaining Power BI dashboards and reports. This role will collaborate across departments to ensure data is modeled accurately and visualized in ways that support informed business decisions.

**What you will be doing**:

- Develop, maintain, and optimize Power BI reports, dashboards, and visualizations to provide actionable insights for various business functions.
- Dive deep into complex data sets from multiple sources to uncover hidden patterns, trends, and relationships that drive informed decision-making.
- Assist in-house actuarial team with financial reporting by collecting data, creating queries, and building reports.
- Provide data for use in developing actuarial models (market analysis, pricing, reserving, reinsurance analysis, etc.).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and validate reporting requirements.
- Create robust and efficient data models to support accurate and efficient reporting and analysis.
- Assist in the development of data governance policies and best practices to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security.
- Provide ongoing support and training for team members on Power BI and data analysis best practices.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices in data analytics and Power BI to continuously improve reporting and analytics capabilities.
- Participate in special projects and ad-hoc analysis, as needed.
- Other duties as required.

**What you bring to the team**:

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a related field.
- High level of proficiency with SQL, DAX, Power Query, Power BI, and at least one of Python or R.
- Experience in Power BI, including report and dashboard development, data modeling, DAX and Power Query.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to draw insights from complex data sets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and data modeling techniques (e.g., star schema, snowflake schema, normalization).
- Experience working in financial services or a similar setting is an asset.

**How you will succeed**:
In the first year, success will be measured by your ability to independently deliver insightful and accurate data and create meaningful reports to support the reporting and data gathering needs of the actuarial team.
