**Division Manager, Earthworks**
**Overview**:
As a key member of Kidco’s leadership team, you will manage the daily operations of Kidco’s Earthworks division, which handles various site preparation projects in the Calgary area. Your primary objective will be to ensure the division operates safely, profitably, and efficiently, exceeding client expectations.
**Responsibilities**:
**Employee Leadership and Management**:
- Provide leadership and direction to Earthworks operations staff, including Project Managers, Operations Managers, Supervisors, and Heavy Equipment Operators
- Oversee the implementation of Safety programs and Health and Safety within the division
- Allocate resources to projects and ensure staffing requirements align with workload
- Develop and train staff, resolving any HR issues within the Earthworks operations team
- Collaborate with Kidco HR to recruit and retain operators and project staff
**Project Planning and Execution**:
- Schedule Earthworks resources, allocating people and equipment to projects, and adjusting as required to meet schedule and budget requirements
- Maintain up-to-date work on hand and the master schedule
- Work with Project Managers to develop efficient project plans, including mass haul plans, resource plans, and risk mitigation strategies
- Support Project Managers in troubleshooting and resolving project issues
- Develop innovative solutions to client challenges
- Manage project changes, ensuring all changes are documented and approved before proceeding
- Conduct post-project reviews to identify improvement opportunities and implement learnings on future projects
**Equipment Management**:
- Develop processes and procedures to optimize equipment allocation and usage, meeting utilization targets daily, weekly, and monthly
- Ensure adherence to Kidco’s operation, safety, repair, and maintenance procedures within the Earthworks team
**Safety Leadership**:
- Maintain a strong focus on health and safety, ensuring all Kidco policies and procedures are followed and promoting a positive and proactive safety culture
- Implement best practices and engage with all levels of employees to seek real-time solutions to identified risks
**Client Management**:
- Develop and foster outstanding relationships with internal and external clients through exceptional service and continuous communication
- Ensure client expectations are understood and resolve any concerns that arise
- Foster positive client relationships to secure repeat business
**Qualifications**:
- A minimum of 10 years of civil construction experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- An undergraduate degree in Engineering or a Certified Engineering Technologist designation is preferred
- Proven success in overseeing field operations for new construction projects
- Extensive knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices in the construction industry
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively in a fast-paced environment
