The job of the Registered Early Childhood Educator at Maple Tree Non-Profit is to provide a quality, caring program to the people in our community that meet the needs of the children and their families. We strive to create an engaging and inclusive environment for our children while maintaining a high code of ethics and following all guidelines outlined in the Childcare and Early Years Act and licensing policies. This position reports to the Team Leader.

**Requirements**:

- Registration and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educator’s
- Knowledge and understanding of How Does Learning Happen, Elect, and CCEYA
- First Aid and CPR-C
- Negative Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
- TB test
- Immunization up to date
- Proficient in English. Both written and oral

**Supervision and Safety**
- Knowledge of ratios
- Collaborate with the team to adjust ratios as needed in case of staff or child absence
- Greet guests upon arrival and direct them accordingly
- Be familiar and build relationships with parents/guardians for each child
- Complete head counts consistently
- Makes safety of the children the top priority
- Document all injuries according to MTPNP policy and complete incident reports
- Reports any hazards to the Team Leader and takes corrective measures as appropriate
- Administers medication in accordance with MTPNP policy
- Aware of all allergies in the center

**Emergent and Play-Based Curriculum and Pedagogical Approaches**
- Creates environments and programs where everyone feels a sense of belonging, well-being, engagement, and expression both indoors and outdoors.
- Can connect with the importance of care rituals/routines and fostering a pedagogy of care.
- Offers opportunities for social and emotional learning:

- Embeds positive emotional coaching for children into their practices.
- Models and scaffolds social skills in program alongside children.
- Understands that “all behaviour is communication”.
- Maintains developmentally appropriate social/emotional expectations of children.
- Plans intentional emergent and play-based programs based on the holistic development of children:

- Offers a language rich environment.
- Gently fosters a healthy sense of autonomy, self-help skills, and independence.
- Provides opportunities to strengthen fine/gross motor and physical literacy skills.
- Fosters complex thinking and problem-solving through inquiry-based learning.
- Plan and carry out prep work for intentional program/activities based on observations/development.
- Completes ASQ and ASQ-SE2 screening tools and can embed early intervention strategies organically into program.
- Creates pedagogical documentation to make early learning visible.

**Communication and Collaboration: Interactions with Children, Families, and Colleagues,**
- Forms strong, responsive, and positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Prioritizes positive and caring interactions with children, families, and colleagues.
- Prepares for sensitive conversations with parents before they occur to ensure messages are offered through a strength-based lens.
- Open/ongoing professional communication with colleagues.
- Maintains professional administrative communication practices (ex. Communication logs, reporting illnesses/injuries, passing along messages, etc.)

- Follows the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice as outlined by the College of Early Childhood Educators
- Embeds elements of How Does Learning Happen into their practice.
- Connects with MTP-NP’s Vision, Mission, Values, and Program Statement
- Is a reliable, consistent, and dependable team member.
- Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, parents, and children.
- Maintains professionalism when dealing with sensitive information.
- Maintains confidentiality.

Pay: $21.32-$26.54 per hour
