**Parlee McLaws LLP** is seeking an experienced** Legal Assistant** to join our team working in **Bankruptcy / Insolvency / Collections**. This role is located at our **downtown Edmonton** office.

**Key requirements**:

- **Minimum of five (5) years of experience in bankruptcy, insolvency, and collections**:

- ** Post-secondary education from a recognized Legal Assistant/Paralegal program** (equivalent experience may be considered)
- **Highly organized** and **pro-active approach to meeting deadlines** while producing **accurate quality work**:

- **Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing English with solid spelling and grammar skills** (additional language skills are an asset)
- **Strong client service and relationship building skills**:

- **Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs** (Outlook, Word, and Excel are key) as well as other software such as Worldox, Elite 3E, Remindex, SpeechExec, FoxIt, or similar programs
- The hours of work are **Monday to Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM (37.5 hours/week)**

**Other requirements**:

- Experience with conducting searches (Motor Vehicle, PPR, Corporate, Land Titles); PPR certification is an asset
- Experience drafting pleadings, writs of enforcement, and letters for collections
- Substantial reliability and adaptability accompanied by a professional demeanor and conduct
- Keen attention to detail in producing accurate, high-quality work
- Adaptability to changing priorities and effectiveness in a high-volume work environment
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Problem-solving skills with a pro-active mindset
- Understanding of basic accounting principles and experience with billing
