The Child Care Centre's are non-profit programs that provide inclusive early learning and child care services to children ages one to five years. The Centre's are programs of Community Options - A Society for Children and Families that have provided early learning and care in Edmonton for over 40 years.
We are seeking an **Early Learning Childcare Educator** to support our childcare centre. You will be working as part of our amazing team, providing unbiased care, implement appropriate activities, plan and deliver snacks and meals to ensure nutritional needs of children are met, and distribute appropriate materials for children's use. **Location**:Working at one of the three (3) childcare locations within the Inglewood area
**Job Type**:PermanentFull-Time
**Hours**: Monday to Friday, hours vary between 7am and 5:30 pm (a full-time shift is eight hours per day with an one hour unpaid lunch).
**Start date**: As soon as possible - Until filled
**Wage**: $27.62 - Level Three (3) base rate: $19.00 + $8.62 for the Alberta Wage Top Up**
**Position Summary**:
- The Early Learning Childcare Educator (ELCE) works as part of a team to care for children in a positive, compassionate, and respectful manner.
- The ELCE is a natural nurturer, promoting wellbeing and encouraging growth and development in children in addition to respecting each child’s uniqueness and individual needs.
- This position will plan and implement a creative, flexible program based on children’s interests and sound theory and practice.
- This position will display a sincere attitude of acceptance and respect for all children and their families and promote the philosophy that all children have the right to be included in all community programs.
- Program supervision in an environment that meets the children’s physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment for the children.
- Enhance the curriculum and the children's learning in many ways, in both planned and spontaneous play, by implementing activities and following the interest of the children between 12 months and 5 years.
- Staff will be required to do extra sanitization and sterilization of equipment, toys and high touch areas.
- Take turns walking around the rooms, entrance ways and building and wiping down doorknobs, handles, bathrooms and other high touch areas in addition to tracking and keeping a daily log of these tasks.
- Maintain timely communication with appropriate personnel and team members regarding the children and the program.
- Regular outdoor work is required, including during inclement weather.
- This position may entail potential frequent kneeling and squatting up to 75% of the shift.
- Other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**:At a minimum, applicants are required to have:
- Alberta Childcare Staff Qualification Certification - Level 3
- Knowledge and/or Experience of Flight: Alberta’s Early Learning and Care Framework an Asset
- Experience or education in working with children ages one (1) to five (5) years
- Ability to work in a high energy childcare (daycare) environment with the ability to change priorities as required.
- Current Standard Childcare First Aid and CPR (obtained in the past 12 months)
- Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills with ability to work both independently and as a team player.
