The Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) is a not-for-profit, advocacy, and safety training association functioning as the Voice, the Standard, and the Resource for commercial transportation in Alberta. For nearly 85 years, our work - based on research, innovation, and engagement - has encompassed a broad range of environmental, psychosocial, economic, safety, and compliance matters that impact provincial highways. AMTA brings key stakeholders together to enhance the commercial transportation industry.

**OBJECTIVE**
- The Marketing and Communications (MARCOM) Specialist plays an integral role in AMTA’s Marketing and Communications (MARCOM) team and the Association by developing and executing innovative strategies, tactics, and creative content to help achieve AMTA’s vision, mission, and strategic objectives. The MARCOM Specialist is an action-oriented professional who thrives on being a part of a supportive, fast-paced team._

Reporting to the Manager, MARCOM, the MARCOM Specialist is an experienced marketing and communications professional, who takes a client-facing role with departments responsible for key initiatives. The MARCOM Specialist implements activities to engage diverse audiences.

This position works directly with the MARCOM team - and collaboratively with AMTA staff, members, and stakeholders - to plan, oversee, and execute a variety of projects and to create and share compelling content to amplify the AMTA brand. The MARCOM Specialist is a creative thinker and solutions-/member-oriented team player with a keen eye for detail.

**MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS**
- Marketing, communications, and engagement planning and execution: 60%
- Support with event planning and implementation: 20%
- Administration and logístical support: 10%
- General MARCOM administrative support: 5%

**KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED**
- Computer proficiency with MS Office, Adobe, Canva, social media platforms, and project-management/event-planning platforms
- Basic graphic design skills considered a strong asset
- Applied knowledge of virtual meeting technologies (e.g.: Zoom, Teams, Meet, etc.)

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**

The MARCOM Specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of MARCOM activities that support a wide variety of Association initiatives, projects, programs, and services. The position has both strategic and tactical responsibilities.

Responsibilities include communications planning, implementation, and advice; developing and implementing communication and marketing/promotional plans; writing and editing; providing advice and support for engagement activities; issues management support; media relations; and project support.

**Marketing and Communications**
- Develops and executes effective marketing, communications, and engagement to support AMTA projects, programs, and initiatives
- Supports the MARCOM team with all aspects of AMTA’s external and internal corporate communications, including strategic communications, marketing, media relations, crisis communications, publications, and more
