**Assurance Quality Manager (Full-time, permanent)**

Smythe LLP (Smythe) is looking for an experienced, team-orientated Assurance Quality Manager to help advance the quality objectives and goals of our firm.

**The opportunity**

**Your day-to-day**
You will be responsible for:

- Performing quality monitoring reviews of engagement files of financial statements under Canadian Accounting Standard for Private Enterprises (ASPE), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)
- Performing risk assessments to identify potential areas of concern and develop appropriate control measures
- Responding to technical questions from all professional staff regarding accounting and assurance-related matters
- Keeping up-to-date by reading associated literature and attending appropriate educational courses for skill development
- Supporting and assisting the Learning & Growth Specialist in developing and delivering course instruction and training sessions to enhance the understanding of quality control policies and procedures among the audit staff
- Monitoring and tracking audit deficiencies, implement corrective actions, and provide recommendations for process improvements
- Assisting in the preparation of informational fact sheets to clients on relevant accounting pronouncements
- Participating in thought leadership process and share functional and industry knowledge and expertise with colleagues and teams
- Participating in external quality control inspections and effectively address any identified issues or recommendations
- Maintaining strong working relationships with regulatory bodies, ensuring timely responses to inquiries and requests for information.
- Staying informed about emerging trends, technologies, and methodologies in auditing and quality control.

**What we’re looking for**
To excel in this role, you will need:

- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation is required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in public company auditing, preferably within a public practice accounting firm
- Clear and above-par professional communication skills
- Strong technical background in ASPE, IFRS, Generally Accepted Auditing Standards, CSRE 2400 Review Engagements, and CSRS 4200 Compilation Engagements
- Sound technical background in US GAAP would also be considered an asset
- Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
- Strong research, organizational and project management skills
- Experience in presentation of internal training courses and/or external presentations
- Technical experience with CaseWare would be considered an asset
- Ability to build strong and meaningful connections with colleagues and clients, based on trust and respect
- A desire to learn and adapt in a challenging environment
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Willingness to collaborate and help audiences with varied degrees of technical expertise
- Other duties as assigned

**In addition, you will need to**:

- Be present in person at your primary office location at least two days a week (after your probationary period is completed)
- Work additional hours during peak times when necessary
