Job Description:
**Responsibilities**:

- **Medical Support**: Administer daily nutritional needs via G-Tube for one child, ensuring proper hygiene and care during and after the procedure.
- **Mobility Assistance**: Assist with mobility using supportive devices like walkers and AFOs. Encourage and support physical activities with hands-on assistance and supervision.
- **Behavioral Support**: Implement effective strategies to manage sensitive behaviors, particularly in response to specific triggers such as certain sounds or emotional distress from a sibling. Techniques may include distraction, redirection, and calming strategies such as singing or counting.
- **Daily Care**: Engage both children in appropriate developmental activities. Monitor and ensure a safe play environment, especially during interactions between the two children.
- **Pet Management**: Handle interactions with family pets, ensuring a safe environment for the children. This may include crating or supervising the dog as necessary.
- **Communication**: Maintain open and effective communication with parents and healthcare providers regarding the children’s daily activities, progress, and any incidents.

Qualifications:

- **Experience and Education**: Preferably a diploma or certification in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or a related field. Proven experience in caring for children with special needs, particularly with mobility challenges and behavioral management.
- **Skills**: Knowledge of G-Tube care and maintenance, experience with mobility aids, and effective behavioral management strategies. Ability to remain calm and effective under stress.
- **Certifications**: CPR and First Aid certification are required. Additional training in special needs care will be considered an asset.
- **Personal Traits**: Patience, reliability, empathy, and the ability to interact positively with children with special needs. Strong observational skills and the ability to act swiftly in emergency situations.

Additional Requirements:

- Must be comfortable with pets in the home environment.
- Ability to provide a police background check and vulnerable sector check as part of the hiring process.
