We are looking for short term HR professionals to support our UBC departments.

**Worked Performed**
- Provides front line support for day-to-day human resources activities for faculty / department and staff to ensure compliance with UBC policies and procedures.
- Responsible for the management of the various programs. Leads correspondence with internal faculty sponsors and external applicants, manages immigration and hiring procedures and letters of offer. Leads event planning and coordination, delegating support needs as required. Ensures compliance with immigration and UBC hiring policies and procedures.
- Initiates and manages the on/off-boarding process for all term appointments, and for new faculty and staff as directed.
- Manages all term appointment compliance with privacy training and other legislated and/or mandatory training annually.
- Responds to inquiries from Faculty Relations and Human Resources, Payroll, recommending resolutions to issues, and escalating complex issues to the Administrator as needed.
- Manages electronic HR systems (ePAF, eRecruit and Position Management). Leads front-end absence tracking and compliance for staff.
- Coordinates faculty and staff appointments, re-appointments, recruitment and hiring processes, job descriptions and job ads working with the Administrator.
- Manages all aspects of temporary hiring needs, working directly with Hiring Solutions. Initiates temporary staff on/off-boarding.
- Develops and recommends changes in the HR workflow to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Manages other HR duties as delegated by the Administrator and provides coverage for Administrator s absences.

**Qualifications**:
High school graduation supplemented by training in office procedures and practices or a combination of education and related work experience. University undergraduate degree preferred. Minimum of four years of recent HR or a combination of HR and administrative experience in a professional office environment. Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities. Ability to exercise tact, discretion, and judgment required. Proven ability to be flexible, confident and self-motivated. Ability to prioritize and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines. Ability to deal with a diversity of people in a calm, courteous, and effective manner. Ability to analyze problems, identify key information and issues, and effectively resolve. Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail. Effective oral and written communication skills. Proven ability to work in a team and collaborate with others. A commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to difference. Must have skills pertaining to managing diversity across identities, perspectives, and behaviours (e.g. communication skills, managing conflict, flexibility and working in ambiguity). Behaviours that demonstrate empathy, sensitivity and, curiosity toward difference is a must.
- **Start date: ASAP**
- **Contract: 1- 3 months, with a possibility for extension**
- **Full time hours**
- **$30.85 average hourly pay rate**
