**Job Description**:
What You’ll Be Doing

The Capital Markets arm of CIBC provides integrated capital markets products, investment banking advisory services, corporate lending and top-ranked research to corporate, government and institutional clients around the world. Our goal is to be the leading Capital Markets franchise in Canada and the lead relationship bank for key clients globally. CIBC Capital Markets consists of three lines of business; Global Markets, Global Investment Banking and Corporate Banking.

The Economics team at CIBC works to identify trends, risks and opportunities that affect the Canadian and global economies - and ultimately, our clients' businesses. Our economics team is recognized as a key definer of critical economic trends and their implications for stock values, currencies and interest rates, and has a long and well-earned reputation for being ahead of the curve.

This position is an opportunity to work in of one of Canada’s top-rated financial market economics groups, reporting to the Chief Economist but responding directly to requests from the full economics team. The group primarily provides research on economics and financial markets to external and internal clients of CIBC’s wholesale bank and also serves as the Economics department for CIBC as a whole.

How You’ll Succeed-
- Cover the desktop publishing duties- Help update and maintain the department's databases- Respond to regular and ad-hoc research requests- Assist in the publishing of daily, weekly and monthly reports through the creation of charts, tables, linked files and proofing- Provide administrative support to the Chief Economist and Deputy Chief economist (booking travel, filing expenses, etc.)- Special data projects

Who You Are- An undergraduate degree, or a business/computer-related college diploma. Those with a degree or substantial coursework in economics would be given some opportunities to make use of that knowledge by contributing to publications.- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular strong Excel skills- Be able to work with data- Have an understanding of desktop publishing and willing to learn Adobe InDesign- Knowledge of economic and financial market terminology is an asset- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize multiple requests and projects- Strong attention to detail and accuracy are essential- Graphics experience would be an asset
