- As Construction Estimator you will be interpreting architectural and structural drawings and the specifications to prepare lumber estimates for residential projects that include detached, semi-detached, town houses and condominium projects.
- Providing estimates to home builders and contractors based on project drawings for different floor plans and elevations for all models and options within subdivisions.
- Estimating is completed by ensuring that all materials included satisfy the latest Ontario Building Code requirements for floor joists spacing, wall sheathing, floor sheathing, roof sheathing and most important fire code sheathing for fire protection for town houses and condominium projects.
- Providing alternate and optional estimates for cost comparison and cost control, and ensure that the building code and structural requirements are fulfilled.
- Updating and incorporating all changes to the material take-offs as per revised drawings or changes as per site condition.
- Maintaining and filing all estimate related drawing for review in future when required.Interacting with Architects and Engineers to solve queries in related drawings.
- Coordinating with site personal to solve problems related to material requirement and /or engineering floor layouts.
- Performing general site inspections as required and assisting carpenter in understanding the engineered floor layouts and installation of engineered joists and beam.
- Coordinating and overseeing the work of co-estimators so as to submit the project estimate in assigned time frame.
