**Job Summary**:
**The Manufacturing Process and Technology Specialist **will be responsible for planning, schedules, and manages one or more manufacturing production processes. This role will assist with planning and directing an efficient layout of equipment and flow of materials. The Manufacturing Process and Technology Specialist will ensure consistent implementation of new and/or improved continuous improvement processes. The ideal incumbent will be able to keep up with the organizations every-changing environment with the ability to employ Lean methodologies and tools to accomplish business objectives and overcome a variety of manufacturing challenges. The Manufacturing Process and Technology Specialist will have demonstrated experience in continuous improvement activities to optimize performance and processes to ensure the highest quality level. Key competencies will include automation, calibration, computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), capacity/material planning and process mapping.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS **(Fundamental job duties):

- Lead the overall process to provide visibility of continuous improvement (CI) program initiatives and optimize projects to align people, resources, and tools.
- Evaluate (and document) existing manufacturing flows, workstation layout and equipment, operational design, flow of materials and health and safety hazards.
- Examines production layout and flow and ensures actions are taken to alleviate “bottle-necks” and non-value-added activities, optimize work cells/layouts.
- Collaborate across functions to gather information and feedback from Formations staff members.
- Identify way to optimize production/productivity and recommend and develop CI processes to drive the organization toward growth opportunities while assessing risk of change.
- Prepare, implement, and/or monitor SOPs as necessary, to assure activities in the plant are consistent with requirements set by the company and regulatory agencies.
- Ensure consistent implementation of new and/or improved processes and establish measurable criteria to achieve desired results.
- Design improved process flows, human resource optimization, and technological improvements.
- Engage, influence, and support diverse teams through CI management system processes, especially staff with the use of new technology.
- Develop CI best practices within the organization through collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Document and implement approved changes from CI management system processes.
- Manage and perform audit programs for non-manufacturing departments and analyze metrics to develop CI initiatives.
- Actively seek opportunities to serve as a thought leader to build and integrate leadership culture into CI/Lean initiatives.
- Seek out, research, develop cost analysis, and justification for new methods, procedures, equipment, and materials.
- Other duties as assigned by Vice President and General Manager.

**JOB EFFORT AND WORKING CONDITION**: (Indicate the mental and physical requirements and conditions under which the job is performed.)
- Must be capable of working in a wood-products manufacturing environment that includes exposure to noise, temperature variances, odors, flexible scheduling to support operations and the physical ability to travel through our facility.
- This position is located at our Manufacturing Edmonton Facility.
- Occasional travel to Langley manufacturing site, corporate office, and external resources based on business needs.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES**:

- Working towards or completion of Degree in Business, Management, Engineering with 3 years relevant experience or 5 years of relevant process improvement experience.
- Proven experience with Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma certification.
- Basic knowledge of machine repair and /or modification processes.
