Looking for a flexible, exciting job lifeguarding this summer? Tired on an indoor, chlorine pool

and want to get out in the sun? Work for us as a lifeguard this summer.

WEA offers outdoor adventure camps, private swimming lessons and contract lifeguarding

services to third parties at various outdoor and private locations on Vancouver Island,

specifically the Greater Victoria, Sooke, Duncan and Cowichan Valley areas. To help facilitate

our lifeguarding program, WEA is looking for on-call and casual lifeguards. The typical program

season starts in June and ends in late August or mid-to-late September. However, there may be

periodic work available during the rest of the year. We ask you to take a moment to thoroughly

Renumeration

$25-$36/hr for lifeguarding.

Hours

On-call and casual lifeguard shifts will mostly be between 09:00 and 17:00 on weekdays but

may also occur on evenings and weekends.

Expectations

Passionate about water safety swimming, & working with people, especially children
Has strong swimming skills & knowledge of water safety
Displays WEA’s values and beliefs
Demonstrates solid risk awareness and management skills
Maintains a high standard of professionalism while operating in the scope of a

lifeguards’s training and WEA’s policies

Able to adapt and problem solve
Possesses strong communication and time management skill
Able to be highly responsible, independent, excellent at taking initiative and can work

without direction or supervision for extended periods of time

Has a growth mindset, appreciates, and can implement feedback from WEA or clients

**Responsibilities**:
This contract requires you to be able to perform various functions and duties, some of which

are listed below:
Supervise swimmers in the various aquatic environments including lakes & private pools

Swim Lesson

Communicate and coordinate with parents. This includes sorting out lesson changes
directly with clients and updating WEA’s admin team on changes made

Complete daily log and timesheet of hours worked
Attend required training sessions
Provide constructive feedback for supervisors, other staff, and programs

Minimum qualifications

National Lifeguard (NL) Certification
Standard First Aid and CPR-C
Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening

Desired qualifications

40 or 80 hr Wilderness First Aid
WSIT
NLS, NLS Waterfront, NLSI
