Braided Journeys seeks an inspiring leader and dedicated advocate with supervision experience and cultural insight to lead a team of 12 professionals. With deep roots in the local Indigenous community and a passion for working with youth, the supervisor will foster a supportive environment for First Nations, Metis and Inuit students in 12 Division schools.

The Supervisor is an integral member of the department management team and assists the manager in all aspects of development and delivery of supports to Indigenous students. The range of assistance provided includes collecting data on department deliverables, developing and maintaining standards of practice, developing resources, and providing discipline specific professional development activities. The job directly supervises a team of seven professionals and three support staff.

This job assists in the management of the day-to-day business operations including supervisory responsibilities, recruitment and selection, employee engagement and professional development planning and general administration.

The job identifies procedural issues, makes recommendations for streamlining processes, and works with affected stakeholders.

The job oversees the day-to-day management of community partnerships and also seeks new partnerships to provide comprehensive support to Indigenous students. The incumbent also represents the department and Division at community and stakeholder meetings and events.

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES**:
Supervision and leadership
- Assign, delegate and evaluate work performance
- Supervise staff in the attainment of the goals and objectives
- Coach, train and mentor staff on in attainment of goals, objectives, standards and practices
- Participate in site visits and observe staff in one-on-one and group sessions
- Participate in performance evaluation and address gaps in work performance
- Advise manager of situations where performance management issues exist
- Participate in the recruitment, selection and onboarding of staff
- Develop and implement procedures for consistencies in reporting and documentation

Program planning and delivery
- Develop, support, and maintain best practice standards for Indigenous student success following a collaborative response model and school continuum of specialized services and supports
- Develop and implement summer programming and partnerships
- Develop and assist in the delivery of special projects and celebrations
- Work with the manager to ensure the development and establishment of program standards, continuity of services and support
- Assist manager in the supporting culturally responsive and inclusive communities and Division goals around supporting Indigenous learners and ways of knowing and being are a lived experience
- Collaborate with internal and external partners and stakeholders to identify, select, develop, and produce high quality resources, programs and partnerships

Partnership activities
- Ensure agencies share Division’s values and meet established criteria
- Develop relationships with key community service providers
- Broker partnerships for the best fit to support Indigenous students
- Monitor, evaluate and support partnerships within schools year-round
- Ensure fair distribution of partnerships amongst schools
- Manage Community Service Learning partnership with the University of Alberta
- Participate in and represent the department and Division in community and stakeholder meetings

Communication and consultation
- Work with leaders and stakeholders in schools and community agencies to identify related community needs, existing supports and best practice models
- Leverage opportunities for support to students and families
- Create relationships with staff doing similar work in the Division
- Inform stakeholders of initiatives, programs and services
- Develop and maintain social media accounts for the program
- Support the manager in communication with community agencies
- Liaise with administrators, teachers, and multi-disciplinary team members in support of goals and best practices
