Network Services Department

Vantage Data Centers' Network Services department is heavily involved in all aspects of our business. Network Services identifies, purchases, configures, runs, and maintains all network hardware and services (inside and outside plant). Network Services also works in partnership with our suppliers to keep abreast of the latest technological changes, so that Network Services can make informed purchasing decisions. The Network Services department is always looking for ways to achieve the best possible balance between technology, performance, and cost.

Position Description

Vantage is looking for an ambitious, detail-oriented, Network Engineer that is responsible for network operations and large scale projects globally. This is a very technical role requiring a solid understanding of networking technologies and concepts. This position is accountable for both Operational Excellence and Customer Service. A key responsibility of this position is leading and driving the network activities associated with large scale projects.

Essential Job Functions
- BAU network support during NA hours
- Actively participate in network migrations in NA
- Drive improvements to processes and procedures
- Mentoring Service Delivery to become more proficient in networking

Duties
- Collaborate to design, build, and support all networks required for Vantage Corporate, Security Management Systems, Building Management Systems, and other needs as defined by the business, including creation/updating of all supporting documentation
- Create, implement, and support standard processes and procedures to support Service Level Agreements to both Vantage business partners and Vantage customers for network uptime, reliability, service, and performance
- Assist in the specification, ordering, purchasing, asset-tracking, and inventory of network-related equipment/supplies/software
- Maintain the network infrastructure globally, highlighting and recording issues identified, creating action plans to resolve
- Utilize necessary tools to identify and resolve complex issues in a timely manner
- Challenge, report and escalate as necessary to resolve any issues affecting the availability, security or integrity of the network infrastructure
- Work extremely closely with Service Delivery to ensure we deliver newly built datacenter’s on time
- Actively research and investigate new tools/technologies to improve the efficiency of the team
- Lead and own projects by creating effective project plans, leverage internal tools (JIRA etc) to provide accurate and timely updates to stakeholders
- Functions of this position are to be performed in a company-designated office or field location
- Understand and comply with the company’s Acceptable Use Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standards, if applicable

Job Requirements
- Demonstratable CCNP/JNCIP/CCIE/JNCIE level or higher experience required
- Data Center experience is strongly preferred, but not required
- Proficiency with Fortinet would be highly advantageous, but not essential
- Skilled at troubleshooting LANs (layer 2 networks), fault finding and isolation, understanding of technologies such as Spanning Tree, Port channels, Stacking etc
- Good experience with layer 3 routing, working with ISP’s to resolve issues such as latency and packet loss
- Good experience with firewalls, polices, vpn’s, general concepts etc, understanding of advanced inspection and filtering techniques
- Experience working on projects, managing multiple simultaneously and delivering according to deadlines
- Skilled in automation and scripting would be highly desirable
- A strong desire to learn new technologies while continuing to progress their career
- Participation in an oncall rota would be required after successful probationary period (1 weekend in 5)
- Travel required is expected to be 5 to 10% but may increase over time as the business evolves
