What are the ongoing responsibilities of a Research Analyst (Investment Analyst) - Private Markets
- Manager Research and due diligence:_- Executes due diligence process from cradle to grave of both direct and fund investments. May take a lead relationship management role of assigned investment strategies, while also serving as the secondary relationship manager on others. Recommends multi asset-class portfolio construction, strategy and implementation. Investment identification and due diligence across a broad cross section of real asset equity and debt investments.- Primary accountability of generating high quality manager research deliverables on specific opportunities within Private Infrastructure and Natural Resources, with mínimal oversight from more senior members of the team.- Perform ongoing monitoring of strategy performance and contribute thought leadership of relevant asset classes as requested, including contributions to dynamic and strategic asset allocation.- Contribute to broader FT Alternatives Research agenda through attending other due diligence meetings, sharing insights from past research relationships, performing peer reviews.
- Collaboration_- Delivers technical support and advice to client-facing sales and relationship colleagues on real asset topics.- Supports the development of intellectual capital to promote awareness internally and externally of the firm's capabilities in Alternatives.- Reporting of portfolio performance reviews; drafts client reports for clients as required. Supports new business activities across the firm; represents FT Alternatives and/or its clients at investor meetings and industry conferences/organizations and communicates relevant findings to the broader group and its clients as necessary.-
- Partner with Portfolio Managers to share investment outlook of underlying managers and ensure alignment of fund implementation options to asset allocation framework
- Evolution of Research Process_- Actively considers potential improvements to overall team efficiency and process- Executes research projects aimed at improvement of due diligence decisions and outcomes- Critiques methods and applies best practices learned through conferences, academic and industry publications, and other sources
- What _
- qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?_- 5+ years of relevant experience- Bachelor's degree with CFA Level II or CAIA completed, or equivalent relevant advanced degree- Experience working with an investment consulting firm, or a large asset allocator (pension plan, foundation, or fund-of-fund) required.- Demonstrated understanding of mandate due diligence and investment underwriting in Private Markets required- Experienced in ESG investing principles.- Great work ethic with a strong desire to learn.- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in both a team and independent environment.
