**Position Overview**
We have partnered with a local accounting firm to assist in the search for a new Accounting
Technician to join their team This firm has strong roots in the city of Winnipeg, supporting a number of small to medium sized business clients. This position is responsible for the preparation of corporate tax returns, year-end files and financial statements according to the professional and current accounting standards. This position also includes administrative responsibilities such as finalization of deliverables, office management duties, client communication, etc.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Preparation of year-end files (corporate, partnership, sole proprietorship) including the following tasks:
- Completion and documentation of the file in an efficient manner;
- Preparation of the financial statements;
- Preparation of the tax return.
- Preparation of corporate income tax for a diverse variance of public practice clients;
- Analytical review of the reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis, including the reconciliation of subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger;
- Reporting the monthly variance analysis from the file budget;
- Maintenance of manuals documenting accounting procedures and policies;
- Prepare financial statements, reports and records through collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information;
- Stay current with all regulations, practices, tax laws, reporting requirements and industry trends pertaining to accounting standards and tax submission requirements;
- Develop an open communication channel with clients;
- Demonstrate professionalism through a positive attitude and by maintaining the confidential and proprietary nature of client relationships and related work products;
- Determine all information required to ensure/complete accurate tax compliance products within the budget outline;
- Provide timely and high-quality services and work products based on the clients expectations.
- Prepare and execute deliverables to clients such as final year end packages.
- Administrative duties as required including but not limited to:
- Reception of clients;
- Supply orders;
- Client communications;
- Filing.
**Skills and Qualifications**
- 1-3 years’ relevant experience in tax and year-end preparation;
- Excellent analytical, multi-tasking, communication, organizational, teamwork and interpersonal skills;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English;
- PC proficiency including MS Office, ProFile, Caseware, Keystone Template, QuickBooks, Sage, or other software;
- Ability to manage time spent against budget and work with team members to ensure deliverables are completed in a timely manner;
- A commitment to learning in a tax technology environment;
- Strong organizational skills;
- Process oriented with excellent documentation skills;
- Proven business development skills;
- Ability to work within tight deadlines;
- Proactive, committed and a driven team player.
