** Qualifications**:

- Two-year post-secondary diploma in architectural, engineering or building technology programs or other relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum six (6) months previous relevant experience.
- Must possess or in process of obtaining the following Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing BCIN qualification requirements for building officials: General Legal and House.
- Working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code.
- Ability to read and interpret design and construction drawings.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and tact.
- Excellent organizational, customer service and communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Superior customer service skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

**Hours of Work**:Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.**(37.5 Hours per week)**

** Environment: Unionized**

** Hourly Rate: $31.54 (2026 Rate)**

In accordance with **Article 37** of the CUPE Local 122 Collective Agreement, employees will have five (5) years from the commencement of full-time employment as a Junior Plan Examiner to become Ministry qualified and registered as a Building Inspector. The City of North Bay will support training and qualification opportunities. Once the Junior Plan Examiner meets the requirements of the Building Inspector I job description and the qualifications of the Ministry, the position will be reclassified as Building Inspector I and will be registered as a Building Inspector as per the Ontario Building Code requirements.
