**Job Summary**

The Aquatic Team Lead serves the mission, vision, and core values of the YMCA of Lethbridge by supporting Lifeguards and Slide Attendants. The main goals of this position are:
1. Ensuring the highest level of safety is upheld in the aquatic area

2. Being proactive in safety and responding to emergency situations

3. Building relationships with patrons, volunteers, and employees

- Lifesaving Society Alberta and Northwest Territories

**Nature & Scope**

The Aquatics Team Lead will support the Operations Department and Aquatic Team, the responsibilities for this position are, but not limited to:

- Act as a shift lead for the Aquatic Team, providing excellent participant experience while leading the response to issues and communicating with the Aquatic Leadership Team
- Rotate in ratio and teach programs for the majority of shifts
- Demonstrate SAM Standards during daily operations
- Support the Aquatic leadership team - completing admin tasks as required including headcounts, scheduling, collecting data
- Complete daily checklists and ensuring facility is clean
- Complete daily preventative maintenance checklists
- Respond to emergencies (within Aquatics and CVR) in accordance YMCA Emergency Response Plan and Procedures
- Acting as a leader in health and safety, ensuring the highest level of standards are maintained within the Aquatic Team
- Promote a strong culture and sense of community with the Aquatic Team
- Participate in all required YMCA training, recertifications and Inservice trainings
- Demonstrate Level One Leadership Principles

**Physical/Special Demands**
- This position involves prolonged standing
- This position involves the ability to lift 20 kgs
- This position includes consistent entry into aquatic amenities
- This position may include water rescues

**Qualifications and Experience**
- 2+ years of Lifeguarding and Instructing Experience
- National Lifeguard - Pool Certification
- National Lifeguard - Waterpark Certification
- Swim Instructor Certification
- Lifesaving Instructor Certification
- Current Standard First Aid
- Excellent Communication Skills
- Leadership Experience (Considered an Asset)
- Advanced instructor certifications (considered an asset)
- Evidence of an acceptable Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
- Evidence of an acceptable Child Intervention Check
- Three professional references required
