**Summary**
The Manager of Public Relations will work under the authority and supervision of the Senior Director of Communications. The Public Relations (PR) Manager is responsible for communicating organization programs, events, and new product/service releases to consumers to enhance the organization’s image and brand. This individual will plan and implement public relations strategies to create an informed and receptive climate for marketing the organizations products and services. The PR Manager will accomplish this goal by collaborating with internal marketing, external media, local communities, and other groups to generate positive public awareness of the organization.

**General duties**
The NWAC Manager of Public Relations will:
- Develop, manage, and implement all phases of PR strategies for the organization, including pre-launch, launch, and post-launch.
- Coordinate and direct new product/service releases and associated promotional events, press tours, interviews, etc.
- Write press releases, news articles, media advisories, Q&A sheets, fact sheets, pitch letters, newsletters, and other PR collateral.
- Seek out media exposure opportunities by initiating PR campaigns in print, Web, and broadcast formats (e.g. radio and television).
- Collaborate with marketing department to ensure that the corporate message is disseminated in a consistent manner.
- Integrate pre-established marketing messages into PR plans, taking into account branding and market positioning.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of corporate offerings and competitor actions within the marketplace.
- Build and maintain a network of essential media contacts, including local and national broadcast, trade publications, journalists, and other contacts.
- Manage the PR budget in relation to events, plans, and special events.
- Coordinate goodwill programs, events, and campaigns to increase community awareness of the company.
- Keep employees - as well as local, state, federal and industry agencies - informed of important changes at the company.
- Respond to inquiries from customers, business partners, the public, the media, the community, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with professional, civic, legislative, media, and volunteer organizations to share information consistent with corporate objectives.
- Other promotional and PR duties as required.
**Studies and Experience Requirement**
- University degree in public relations, public administration, marketing, or business administration, or equivalent work experience.
- 5 years of direct work experience in a public relations capacity.
- Strong news writing skills and editorial abilities for all forms of written media and communications.
- Proven ability to prepare concise media materials, such as news alerts, press releases, fact sheets, etc.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with key media outlets, including trade publications, magazines, and other pertinent business partners.
- Demonstrated track record of managing large events, such as trade shows, exhibits, etc.
- Knowledge and understanding of media directories, newswires, monitoring services, and other PR tools.
- Understanding and familiarity with brand building and brand management.
- Strong research skills and knowledge of competitive analysis methods.
- Knowledge of ethical PR best practices and associated regulations.
- Highly effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal communication and presentational skills.
- Energetic, self-motivated, and results-oriented.
- Direct experience with graphic design, Web page, and other marketing-related software tools.
- Proven team player who is both flexible and adaptable.
- Able to elicit cooperation from others.
- Able to manage consultant and volunteer activities.
- Proficient English language writing, editing and speaking.
- Experience with NGOs, organizations, interest groups and government or government agencies or business/corporate entities.
