Description: ATCO Frontec is seeking a Lead Field Hand to join our Site Services department in Resolute Bay, Nunavut. Reporting to the Manager, the Field Lead Hand is responsible for planning, overseeing, and participating in a variety Maintenance and Construction tasks while acting as the key communication contact from the office to the operations in the field. In addition, this position will support a wide variety of scheduling, organizational, logístical, financial and administrative assignments.

**Responsibilities**:

- Lead Hand_
- Lead field personnel in projects and tasks
- Inspect and evaluate work progress through completion
- Determine material, equipment, supplies and personnel needed to complete repairs, and projects efficiently
- Knowing, understanding, communicating and ensuring compliance with the safety regulations and safety policies / procedures
- Tracks, monitors and communicates progress and issues to the Site Manager
- Participation and lead field Daily Safety Toolbox meetings
- Meeting schedule requirements to quality standards.
- Completing daily time sheets.
- Directing staff of 20 plus employees and subcontractors with daily tasks.
- Manage and provide necessary training tools to operational staff to ensure the ongoing availability of qualified personnel to meet the Customer's expectations.

- Project Coordination_
- Works with the Site Manager to develop an execution plan, detailing an overall project schedule, assuring realistic target dates and benchmarks to ensure the successful implementation of processes and procedures.
- Completes contracts and pricing analysis to be reviewed and signed off by the Site Manager
- Coordinates Subcontractors and Vendors under the direction of the Site Manager
- Assists in the development of short and long-term strategies and schedules for current projects
- Tracks and monitors safety stats and reports them to the Site Manager and recommends corrective actions
- Operates within ASL Quality system and company safety policy in all phases of assignments.
- Maintains records of all safety, cost, scheduling and quality work executed
- Responsible for the development of itemized work statements in a form suitable for tender and invites/ solicits suitable contractors.
- Recommends, upon review of tenders, acceptable contractor to perform the work.
- Submits requests for purchase orders in order for work to commence in a timely manner.
- Ensures that selected contractors comply with all safety and environmental standards and necessary legal requirements related to the project.
- Ensures that the work performed is according to contract scope of work.
- Solves unanticipated site problems, confirms the necessity for and negotiates the cost of any extra work.
- Coordinates support requirements with applicable ATCO Structures and Logistics Staff.
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

- High School Diploma or Equivalency Education
- A minimum two to four years’ experience working on construction projects experience in any combination of general administrative, scheduling, coordination, work order management, procurement, or equivalent;
- Current certificates in Fall Arrest and Confined Space
- Class 5 license and clean drivers abstract is required
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Ability to estimate time and materials needed for assigned work projects
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to be a positive member within the team
- Ability to provide direction to both employees and subcontractors to complete projects on time and budget
- Ability to work independently and able to multi task and prioritize workloads
- Proficient in Excel, MS Word, Outlook
- Experience working in a remote environment is considered an asset
- Strong commitment to follow workplace safety requirements and procedures
- Must be prepared to work in extreme weather conditions
