We are hiring a Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager, this role will report to the Director of Operations.

**Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Establish and maintain a robust food safety program, including a Recall Program and traceability exercises.
- Develop and maintain thorough working knowledge of applicable CFIA and BRC regulations and policies and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Work closely with the Operations team to facilitate product quality that consistently meets or exceeds performance criteria.
- Lead Internal and External Audit Programs, including knowledge and experience with current BRC audit guidelines and requirements.
- Maintain Recall Program and coordinate Mock Recalls. Initiate traceability exercises
- Accountable for the maximum performance, technical competence and personal development of the FSQA team through hiring, developing, evaluating and motivating personnel.
- Identify opportunities to improve product and process quality, consistency, and performance. Establish continuous improvement initiatives for quality department and personnel.
- Strengthen the FSQA department by contributing innovative ideas, expertise, knowledge, high professional standards, team spirit and pride in the Company.
- Be an active member of new plant trials and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Facilitate team meetings and training sessions such as HACCP Food Safety, Food Safety and Quality Culture
- Identify and manage product and facility quality issues. Perform root cause analysis and develop robust preventive measures.
- Ensure that all employees are up to date on training & retraining for various tasks and Good Manufacturing Practices, including Critical Control Points (CCP)
- Manage customer complaints that require technical follow-ups and corrective actions.
- Recommend and implement corrective and preventative measures to improve product safety and quality standards.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Requirements**:

- Degree in Food Science, or a related field (strongly preferred)
- Experience working in a meat processing plant in a GFSI recognized environment.
- Formal HACCP training from a recognized training facility
- A minimum of 5 years of FSQA experience; 2 years in a leadership position
- Proven leadership, team building and interpersonal skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (listening, verbal, written, MS office)
- Flexible, adaptable, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, employees, and supervisors.
- Excellent planning, decision making and problem-solving ability required for daily FSQA management.
