Job Summary

The Housing Support Coordinator plays a key role in supporting women and families at the Crossroads for Women Transition House and in the broader community to access and secure safe, affordable housing. This position focuses on assisting clients in navigating housing systems and subsidy programs such as the GBV Benefit, NB Housing programs, second-stage housing, and other available housing opportunities. The Coordinator uses a trauma-informed, client-centred approach to build trusting relationships and help clients regain housing stability and independence.

This position embodies Crossroads for Women’s mission to help women and children transition from crisis to empowerment, while upholding our values of safety, respect, equity, and empowerment.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist residents and community clients in finding and securing appropriate housing options.
- Develop individualized housing support plans and track progress toward housing stability.
- Maintain relationships with local housing providers, landlords, and community housing partners to facilitate placements.
- Provide support in daily living and tenancy readiness skills (e.g., budgeting, hygiene, meal planning, conflict resolution).
- Work alongside clients to build financial management skills and connect them to appropriate community resources.
- Teach and reinforce coping strategies, goal setting, and system navigation
- Advocate for clients with external service providers and housing authorities.
- Provide referrals and connect clients with programs related to employment, education, income support, and health care.
- Collaborate with Crossroads staff, community partners, and case management teams to ensure wraparound support.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, case notes, and data for reporting purposes.
- Attend case conferences and team meetings as required.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of housing policies, systems, and supports.
- Help evaluate and strengthen housing-related services and systems within Crossroads.
- Participate in training, community outreach, and events related to housing advocacy.
- All other front-line duties that align with supporting and empowering women and children accessing Crossroads’ services.

**Qualifications**:

- Education and Experience: Post-secondary diploma or degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field. Relevant experience in housing, support work, or a combination of formal training and lived experience.
- Cultural Competency: Cultural humility and respect for diversity in all forms.
- Familiarity with housing programs and the barriers faced by women experiencing violence is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of local housing systems, income support programs, and community resources.
- Bilingualism in English and French (spoken and written) is preferred.
- Communication: Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Advocacy & Navigation: Trauma-informed, feminist, and anti-oppressive practice framework.
- Able to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Flexibility: Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
- Other Requirements:

- Satisfactory vulnerable sector and criminal record check.
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
- ASSIST, CPR and First Aid certification (ongoing training provided).

Pay: $24.00 per hour
