SJCCC is home to Hotel Dieu Hospital and St. Joseph's Villa. Located in downtown Cornwall, Ontario, SJCCC offers Rehabilitation and Long-Term Care services to seniors at its 208-bed state-of-the-art healthcare facility.

St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre is seeking a Full Time Permanent Supervisor of Environmental Services. We offer a competitive salary, 7.5 hour shifts, HOOPP Pension plan and access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

**Job Description**:
The management of plant operation, maintenance, housekeeping and assists the Director with daily checks on the oxygen and vacuum pump. Reporting all deficiencies to the Director. The administration of all matters pertaining to light, heat and service utilities and their transmission to points of use (electricity, natural gas, water and other fuel). Establishing technical procedures and management functions pertaining to repairs and utilities, housekeeping and biomedical engineering standards and practices. Providing technical advice and assistance in case of loss, damage or destruction of buildings. Supervising and coordinating improvement of the Centre, including landscaping, construction and repairs. Planning, programming, and accomplishing maintenance, repair, and improvement of buildings, mechanical systems, structures, parking lots, grounds, drainage systems and utilities. Also responsible for ordering oxygen on a weekly basis.

Job Duties:
1. Supports and implements the Mission, Vision and Values of St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre in his/her relations with residents, staff and other members of the Centre community and the general public;
2. Establishes departmental goals and objectives based on the Mission, Vision and Values and current goals and objectives of the Centre;
3. Responsible for reviewing, evaluating and auditing on a regular basis progress toward the achievement of these goals and objectives;
4. Responsible for the supervision, guidance, counseling and appraising the performance of the employees of the Department;
5. Selects, hires, promotes, dismisses or otherwise disciplines all Department personnel as required in accordance with established Personnel Policies;
6. Administers and directs programmes involving maintenance of buildings, grounds, equipment, hot water, plumbing, electricity, refrigeration, sanitation, housekeeping and linen.

7. Establishes and maintains a comprehensive preventive maintenance schedule;
8. Inspects equipment and buildings periodically;
9. Endeavours to ensure conformance with all safety and fire regulations, building codes, sanitary standards, etc. as they relate to the operation and maintenance of the physical plant;
10. Responsible for carrying out the duties of Supervisor as defined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
11. Advises Administration relative to structural changes and additions;
12. Provides for the care of machinery and equipment of the Centre including vehicles and grounds equipment;
13. Calculates costs, schedules and expedites operations and repairs; n) Manages emergency and major repair jobs;
14. Works closely with the Purchasing Officer to ensure the purchase of quality products and services at a competitive price to the Centre.

15. Conducts monthly codes and fire drills as required.

**Qualifications**

1. Completion of a Management or Supervisor Course.

2. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a healthcare related position.

3. Demonstrated management skills.

4. Successful completion of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Course, related trades certificate i.e. electrician, mechanical technologist or equivalent.

5. Successful completion of the Environmental Services Leadership Program from the Ontario Healthcare Housekeepers Association or equivalent is an asset.

6. Proficient with desktop computing including Word processing and spreadsheets.
