**Nature and Scope**
Reporting to the Sous Chef, the Cuisinier is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality, nutritious meals for residents and guests in accordance with Stonemont standards. As a key member of the culinary team, the Cuisinier works across multiple kitchen stations, following established recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines. This role helps ensure an exceptional dining experience by upholding food safety standards, maintaining cleanliness, and contributing to a positive and collaborative kitchen environment.
**Operational Responsibilities**
- Always promotes a safe work environment
- Prepare and cook menu items to specification and portion standards
- Work efficiently across multiple kitchen stations (grill, sauté, prep, etc.)
- Ensure proper mise en place and timely service during meal periods
- Maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation
- Rotate inventory and ensure food storage standards are met
- Assist with receiving and storing food deliveries
- Communicate with the Sous Chef and front-of-house team to ensure smooth service flow
- Support training and mentorship of Junior and Apprentice Cooks as directed
- Contribute ideas for menu specials and kitchen improvements
- Perform opening and closing duties as assigned by the Sous Chef
**Prerequisites**
**Formal Education or Training**
- Culinary diploma, apprenticeship, or equivalent relevant experience
**Experience**
- Minimum 2-3 years of cooking experience in a commercial kitchen
- Experience working across multiple stations preferred
- Prior experience in senior living, healthcare, or hospitality
**Skills / Knowledge**
- Strong cooking and time-management skills
- Knowledge of Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating
- Familiarity with safe food handling practices
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
**Certifications / Licenses**
- Current Safe Food Handlers certificate
- HACCP, WHMIS
- CPR and first aid training
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 - 40 per week
