**Position Summary**

The Women & Family Empowerment Support Worker plays a key role in supporting AIWCC’s Women Empowerment and Conversation Circle Program by empowering newcomer and immigrant women to overcome systemic barriers, foster self-awareness and leadership, and build resilience. The position involves group facilitation, supportive counseling, advocacy, program coordination, and community outreach. This is a dynamic role for a flexible and compassionate individual who thrives in cross-cultural environments and is passionate about uplifting the voices of newcomer women and families.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Program Facilitation**
- Plan and co-facilitate inclusive English conversation circles, family programs, and life skills workshops in a trauma-informed, strength-based environment.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive space for learning, dialogue, and community connection.
- Support participants’ leadership development, emotional well-being, and community engagement.
- Deliver culturally responsive sessions on topics such as parenting, budgeting, communication, conflict resolution, gender-based violence awareness, and rights, education.

**Participant Support & Advocacy**
- Build positive, trusting relationships with women and families using a non-judgmental, client-centered approach.
- Provide supportive one-on-one counseling and referrals to external services including legal, housing, employment, and mental health supports.
- Advocate on behalf of women or empower them to advocate for themselves with systems and services.
- Focus on the safety and well-being of children through the empowerment of their mothers.

**Community Engagement & Outreach**
- Liaise with community partners and service agencies to stay informed on available resources and build referral pathways.
- Promote the program in community spaces and support outreach to underserved newcomer women.
- Attend community meetings, family group conferences, and court hearings as needed to support clients.

**Administration & Reporting**
- Assist in program evaluation through feedback collection, session reports, and data entry.
- Prepare and maintain accurate participant records, case notes, and documentation while ensuring confidentiality.
- Contribute to project implementation and continuous program improvement in line with AIWCC’s values.

**Team Collaboration**
- Attend and actively contribute to regular team meetings.
- Work collaboratively with facilitators, volunteers, and program staff.
- Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing program and community needs.

**Qualifications & Experience**
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Social Work, Psychology, Women’s Studies, Human Services, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in group facilitation, program coordination, or front-line support work with immigrant or refugee communities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; cross-cultural communication competency is essential.
- Demonstrated knowledge of trauma-informed and anti-oppressive practices.
- Fluency in English required; additional languages such as Somali, Tigrigna, or Pashto are strong assets.
- Excellent organizational, administrative, and computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical practice are a must.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license, insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Must provide a current Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector) and Child Welfare Record Check.

**Details**:

- The compensation for this position is from $27.41 to $30 per hour for 20 hours per week and is based on qualifications and experience.
