**THE POSITION**
The Catering Sales Manager position is responsible for overall selling, detailing, and set up of client functions. Working under the management of Director of Sales and Marketing, this position will also partner with the Sales Manager within the department. This position requires physical demands such as lifting, pushing, and pulling, to set up and tier down event set ups. This position is also involved with continuous process improvements of catering sales, industry connections, department efficiency, and perhaps social media responsibilities.
This role will be a “working from office” model, which will require 5 days-per-week in the SoHo Hotel Toronto office located at 318 Wellington Street, Toronto, Ontario. At times, this position is required to work weekends or late hours due to business demands.
**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Sell and service group rooms and catering business.
- Prospect group sales and catering opportunities for the property to maximize revenue, coordinate the activities for meetings, conferences, groups, and social events
- Execute the expectations of the client as outlined in the sales contract and BEO.
- Prospect, contract, and service all blocks and local short-term catering.
- Act as a liaison between the sales and operations departments of the hotel to ensure a successful event for the client and that all of the client’s needs are met and communicated accurately and efficiently to all departments of the hotel.
- Achieve your pre-determined goals/targets for both room rentals, room revenues and catering on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.
- Complete activities including, but not limited to prospecting and qualifying potential leads, soliciting viable leads, and preparing and presenting written proposals/contracts and oral presentations.
- Participate in any hotel meetings, as needed.
- As the primary contact for clients, notify/coordinate clients’ specifications with other departments. Quickly and efficiently respond to client issues, comments, and problems to ensure a quality experience and enhance future sales prospects.
- Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with clients, community organizations, and professional associations to maintain visibility and market share. Continually target and prospect new business through individual creativity and innovation.
- Obtain all rooming lists, monitor rooming list cut off dates, and obtain all menu details, meeting room setups, refreshment break needs, postings, and any other additional needs of the client to ensure a successful event at the property.
- Communicate and enforce contractual agreements pertaining to meeting space, food and beverage, and special concessions.
- Responsible for the review of all bills that are sent to the client. In reviewing bills, they should be accurate and timely in order to maximize return business.
