Telecommunications System Specialist

Ottawa's Protak Consulting Group is seeking a **Telecommunications System Specialist** for a new contract opportunity with the federal government.

**Responsibilities**
- Review, analyze, and provide recommendations on telecommunication system and sub-system interface documentation, including radio, fixed wireless, microwave, satellite, network, and telecom.
- Recommend telecommunication system level solutions for discrepancies, deficiencies and changes to equipment and specifications.
- Analyze the integration of telecommunication systems.
- Prepare support documentation, such as technical data specifications, plans and drawings, standards, and SOWs, for miscellaneous interface and facility ancillary items.
- Review, analyze, and provide recommendations relating to telecommunication system components, design, implementation, and associated documentation.
- Participate in design, technical, and management reviews to monitor, advise, and report on progress and potential problems.
- Analyze telecommunication system deficiencies and recommend cost effective solutions.
- Review, analyze, and provide recommendations on network scalability and sustainability.
- Conduct technical studies and options analysis.

**Qualifications**
- A degree or diploma in Telecommunications or a related field
- A professional certification related to Telecommunications

**Required experience**
- A minimum of 2 years' experience dealing with Grants and Contributions programs relating to broadband internet expansion in a government department setting
- Experience leading technical negotiations for Statements of Work (SOW)
- Experience preparing documents including project descriptions, network descriptions, network diagrams, and project schedules.
- Experience with review and analysis of both wired and wireless networks
- Experience working with telecommunications technologies such as wireless, FTTx, GPON, cable, etc.
- Experience reviewing, analyzing, and providing recommendations on telecommunications systems and sub-systems
- Experience with the geographic analysis of telecommunications network coverage
- Experience assessing, evaluating, and processing GIS or related data sets using software such as MapInfo, Google Earth, ArcGIS, or QGIS

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 24 months

**Salary**: $36.00-$45.00 per hour
