**Your Opportunity**:
The **Payroll Specialist** is responsible for effectively and accurately processing the start to finish, biweekly payrolls for the Hamilton Family Health Team. Also responsible for processing a monthly payroll for Physicians and Nurses. The incumbent will act as a resource to sites and internal departments for payroll matters and ensures that the payroll policies and procedures are being followed and comply with internal and external audit requirements along with legislative and regulatory policies.

**Are you experienced in**
- Processing the full cycle of biweekly and monthly payrolls for salary and hourly; employees in both union and non-union environments in an accurate and timely manner
- Administers various payments such as sick pay, retro pays, vacation pays, etc.
- Responds to inquiries from internal departments and site management regarding payroll; matters in a prompt, courteous and efficient manner
- Interprets multiple union contracts ensuring all calculations in the payroll are correct
- Develops and updates complex reports and provides analysis
- Processes payments to third parties - garnishments, union dues, RRSP and pension payments ensuring that deductions are in accordance with provincial and federal legislations and according to union agreements and corporate policies
- Ensures that monthly and year end regulatory filings are completed on a timely basis
- Ensures that internal controls are complied with for all payroll processes
- Special projects as assigned and other duties as appropriate and required
- Ensures adherence to Payroll policies, reviews and amends polices as required
- Delivers financial reporting and payroll forecasts as requested
- Has ownership of; and participates in Payroll software upgrades and testing as required
- Responsible for the ongoing configuration requirements of changes to earnings and deduction codes and system table set-up, within the Payroll software
- Continuously improve and optimize the Payroll function

**If so, we are looking for a future colleague who has**
- Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience with solid Canadian payroll knowledge
- Experience with HRIS systems and processing
- Payroll based accounting knowledge is an asset
- CPA Certification/in progress or relevant related experience
- A good understanding of collective agreements
- Strong computer skills; MS-Office and Report Writers
- Exceptional customer service orientation and discretion
- Well-organized, self-motivated, high energy, works well under pressure
- Committed, conscientious team player
- The ability to work independently
- Previous experience in Ontario Healthcare would be an asset
- Ad hoc projects and analysis

**Salary**: $72,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
