Associate Mid-Market M&A/Associé(e), Marché intermédiaire - Fusions et acquisitions

**What is the opportunity?**:
As an Associate, you will support the Mid-Market Mergers and Acquisition (M&A) team in Montreal. Mid-Market M&A is a strategically important team that provides value added services. You will support team members that are focused on small to medium sized businesses and will be focused on the preparation of presentations, research materials, proposals, financial models, and transaction documentation. You will broaden your investment banking experience with entrepreneurial clients and will be involved in the sale of privately owned businesses and non-core divisions, acquisitions, and shareholder and management buyouts.

What will you do?
- Participate in a national Mid-Market M&A team, supporting our Montreal team
- Conduct thorough research on companies and industries and delivery of concise summaries
- Assist in preparation of internal and external marketing materials
- Support the preparation and presentation of marketing pitches to existing and potential clients
- Prepare integrated financial models to support analysis in proposals and transaction documents
- Interact with RBC partners, including Commercial and Financial Services, Capital Markets and Wealth Management, under the supervision of team members

**What do you need to succeed?**:
**Must have**:

- Undergraduate degree with a focus in Business, Economics, Mathematics or other quantitative fields
- Minimum 2 - 3 years of work experience in financial services - accounting, commercial banking, or investment banking with a solid understanding and ability to prepare integrated financial models including discounted cash flow and valuation analysis
- Thorough understanding of the relationship between net income, cash flow and working capital
- Ability to use research tools to extract relevant background material for business development and transaction support
- Strong computer literacy with emphasis on PowerPoint and Excel presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment under time constraints
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, in both French and English

**Nice to have**:

- CPA, CFA, CBV or other relevant professional designation - ongoing or completed
- Experience working on capital markets transactions
- Experience in financial services and ability to manage complex concepts
- Knowledge of and interest in financial markets

L’équipe Marché intermédiaire - Fusions et acquisitions est importante sur le plan stratégique et offre des services-conseils à valeur ajoutée. L'associé(e) appuiera l’équipe spécialisée dans le marché intermédiaire pour la préparation des présentations, du matériel de recherche, des propositions, des modèles financiers et de la documentation liée aux transactions.

**Quelles seront vos tâches ?**
- Travailler au sein de l'équipe nationale Marché intermédiaire - Fusions et acquisitions et appuyer l’équipe située à Montréal;
- Effectuer des recherches approfondies sur les sociétés et les secteurs, puis offrir des résumés concis;
- Aider dans la préparation des documents marketing internes et externes;
- Appuyer l’équipe dans la préparation et la présentation des propositions marketing aux clients actuels et potentiels;
- Préparer des modèles financiers intégrés pour appuyer l'analyse des propositions et des documents liés aux transactions; et
- Sous la supervision des membres de l'équipe, échanger avec les partenaires de RBC, notamment Services financiers à l’entreprise, Marchés des Capitaux et Gestion de patrimoine.
