Pipe Layer

Title: Pipelayer/Labourer

Location: Durham region and surrounding area

Hours: Monday
- Friday (Occasional weekend/overtime as needed)

**Summary**: We are a local company that specializes in road construction, site development and sewer and watermain construction in Durham Region and surrounding areas. Pipelayer will be part of a new crew working on commercial and residential projects.

**Responsibilities**:

- Working knowledge of pipe and fittings utilized in sewer and watermain work.
- Placing PVC and concrete sewer and water main pipe in trenches
- Grade and level trench bases, using tamping machines, shovels and hand tools.
- Setting manholes and catch basins
- Benching and parging of manholes and catch basins
- Cutting pipe as necessary
- Some small equipment operations, (BobCAT, packers, etc)
- Check grades for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers.
- Direct deckhand and shovel operator.
- Mix concrete by hand to seal pipes.
- Knowledge of set up and operation of pipe lasers
- Other duties will be assigned as required

**Qualifications**:

- Prior Knowledge of pipe laying techniques, 3-5 years preferred
- Excellent team player. Must work well with others and take direction from the foreman on site.
- Must work efficiently and correctly with mínimal supervision when required
- Must have a valid G license and personal means of transportation
- Must obtain WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety training
- Current valid Working at Heights certification would be an asset
- Good physical health for the purposes of accessing deep trenches, climbing up and down manholes, climbing ladders, lifting and manipulating objects of up to 75-120lbs

**Rate of pay will be negotiated based on experience. Full time, year round position.**

**We have significant room for growth. Looking for someone who can advance into being a labour foreman then start running their own crew in near future.**

**Salary**: $34.00-$38.00 per hour
