Reporting to the Manager, Internal Audit, the Internal Auditor will have an opportunity to participate in exciting risk-based projects that provide exposure to all areas of the business through the execution of strategic, financial, compliance and operational engagements. In addition, the Internal Auditor will collaborate with the Manager, Internal Audit and Director, Internal Audit to develop, implement and maintain initiatives to improve Internal Audit methodology and enhance value delivery within the organization.
**Position Responsibilities**
- Participate in risk-based Internal Audit projects through the entire audit project cycle, including planning, scoping, performing risk assessments, conducting stakeholder interviews, and analyzing supporting documentation
- Prepare findings and value-added recommendations and prepare final reports
- Perform follow-up on the status of outstanding internal audit recommendations
- Participate in testing of internal controls for annual SOX compliance effectiveness assessment, as needed
- Assist the Manager, Internal Audit with periodic reporting to the Audit Committee, development of the annual internal audit plan, and championing internal control and corporate governance concepts throughout the organization
- Assist with projects as required, such as implementation of systems, operational and compliance audits

**Health & Safety Responsibilities**
- Promote Westport’s H&S culture by leading by example in relation to Environmental, H&S policies and procedures and understand your obligations and responsibilities as it relates to applicable H&S Acts and Regulations
- Enforce Westport’s H&S policies and procedures, encourage safe work practices, correct unsafe acts or conditions, conduct formal and informal workplace inspections
- Immediately respond to, investigate and take action from reports of unsafe conditions and/or behaviors

**Position Requirements**
- 1 to 3 years of experience in Internal Audit
- Understanding of comprehensive auditing practices, processes, procedures, principles, theory and standards
- A team-oriented work approach with the ability to work independently
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Detail oriented with the ability to see the “big picture” in relation to assigned work area
- Experience in performing multiple projects and working with varying team members
- Business degree completed and working towards a CPA, CIA or CISA designation
- Understanding of SOX, internal controls concepts is an asset
- Public accounting and/or private industry experience is an asset
- International travel (when deemed safe/appropriate) may be required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, and other systems/software experience is an asset
