MCI The Doctor's Office currently has an opportunity for a Full-Time Lab Technician at our Oakville location, located at 1011 Upper Middle Road East, Oakville, ON L6H 4L1.

**Job Summary**

Reporting to the Clinic Manager, the Lab Technician is entrusted with clinical, lab, and some administrative duties under the physician's supervision and direction of the physician and Clinic Manager to assist in patient care and administration.

Reporting directly to the Clinic Manager, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Drawing blood, tissue, or other specimens; logging and preparing for testing.
- Routine EKGs and PFTs.
- Simple wound management.
- Cleaning and sterilizing instruments and disposing of contaminated supplies or equipment.
- Lab area maintenance, inventory, and assist with ordering lab supplies and materials.

Other duties may include assisting the Clinic Manager, nursing, and reception staff with:

- Coordinating patient care through the clinic, waiting room, exam room, and lab.
- Taking and documenting vital signs (i.e., Blood pressure, heart rate, height, and weight).
- Interviewing patients to complete intake forms or other documents.
- Assisting patients in completing medical history forms.
- Preparing exam rooms; selecting, setting up, and maintaining medical supplies and equipment for all examinations and procedures.
- Greeting, registering, and scheduling patient appointments.
- Completing insurance and other claim forms as needed.
- Assisting with callbacks, referrals, scanning, faxing, pulling charts, and filing.
- EMR documentation/medical record maintenance.
- Billing and coding.
- Attending and making contributions at clinic meetings and training sessions

**Qualifications**
- OSMT or CSMLS certification required.
- Lab Tech and venipuncture degree or certification
- Must be proficient in phlebotomy and all aspects of specimen handling.
- Must adhere to all Health & Safety standards and regulations
- Must adhere to Public Health regulations
- Must demonstrate the ability to work independently and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be able to work cooperatively and constructively with other team members.
- Proven ability to attend to work regularly with flexible hours when required.
