Academy of Modern Art (AOMA) is a Vancouver based art education institution dedicated to transitioning art and design students to their post-secondary school of choice. We are recruiting an experienced and student-centered painting Instructor to teach ages 13 and upin our after-school art programs.

Only those applicants with the experience and qualifications listed below will be considered for this position. Please include a link to your online portfolio or send 6-10 images of your work and painting with oils.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide instruction in water mixable oil painting to a wide range of age groups and skill levels, from ages 13 and up
- Help students achieve specific learning objectives and improve their foundational art skills, enabling students to explore a wide range of artistic styles, movements and techniques
- Enable student to gain an understanding of the elements of art and the principles of design while having fun and exploring art materials and improving their skills
- Plan and implement an appropriate instructional curriculum with lesson plans that guide and encourage students to develop and fulfill their artistic potential
- Class projects developed must be designed to illustrate and promote a student’s artistic improvement
- Engage students in their learning, motivating them with enthusiastic and imaginative presentations and projects
- Develop updated course outlines, content, lesson plans, and instructional materials, including providing any supply list for the teaching class
- Take accurate attendance
- Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently
- Other responsibilities as requested.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree or above from a recognized fine arts institution
- Experienced as a working professional or freelance artist
- Minimum 2 years experience teaching art courses, especially drawing to youth
- Excellent communication, organizational, time management and interpersonal skills
- Must have patience with and a passion for teaching youth
- Available to work flexible hours
- Available to assist with school art exhibitions or other extra-curricular art activities as needed

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 3 - 9 per week

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed

**Education**:

- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

**Experience**:

- teaching art: 2 years (required)
- Artist or freelance artist: 1 year (required)
