Metal Roofing Crew Leader

**Job Summary**

The Crew Leader assists the organization with providing a quality roofing to all residential and/or commercial customers. Reporting to Leadership, the Crew Leader will lead the installment process of a roof and execute the necessary roofing components. This includes managing the job site, executing job set up, conducting safety toolbox, completing job and meeting all quality requirements.

**Responsibilities and Duties**
- Lead a team of Roofers and Labourers for the duration of a job/project.
- Plan job starts with the Field Supervisor, including materials, labour, and Scope of Work.
- Complete daily safety toolbox talks.
- Properly supervise all assigned jobs in progress and ensure that workers on site are carrying out their job tasks correctly and safely.
- Execute full cycle Roofing Process, as per the Scope of Work.
- Ensure that each worker fully understands the job, their specific job tasks and any special instructions or safety issues required to carry out the job.
- Ensure the crew is properly equipped to do the job.
- Before the start of work each day clearly discuss an efficient work plan for the day in order to achieve production goals for that day.
- Always maintain team safety on jobsites
- Keep a daily log separate from the job site experience form documenting all safety related issues discussed or carried out, specific job task training, disciplinary action taken, etc.
- Complete daily site inspections and hazard assessments.
- Document all verbal warnings issued to any worker on the job site and report to the Production Manager and Occupational Safety Manager.
- Review materials at jobs start and manage the inventory throughout the job.
- Communicate daily to the Field Supervisor and Corridor Production Coordinator (CPC) daily about job progress, including pictures using an app.
- Communicate with the customer any and all concerns that may arise and document on the job site form where necessary.
- Manage the job costs to ensure that labour and material remain within the allocated budget.
- Ensure that the project contracted for is done to the installation standards set out by the company and in a safe and efficient manner.
- Conduct a quality inspection and correct all unsatisfactory or outstanding issues
- Recommend and implement new methods to improve productivity, efficiency, quality & safety.
- Attend to after hours field support/deficiencies/leaks repairs.
- Must carry out work in accordance with established safe work procedures as required by the OHS provisions and the regulations.
- Must use protective equipment, devices and clothing as required by the regulations.
- Must refrain from any form of horseplay or similar conduct that may endanger the worker or any other person.
- Must ensure that his/her ability to work without risk to their health or safety, or to the health or safety of any other person, is not impaired by alcohol, drugs or other causes.
- Must report to the supervisor or employer any unsafe act or behaviour.
- Any other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications/Skills**:

- 5+ years of roofing experience
- Valid Class 5 license.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with standing seam metal roofing systems
- Fall Protection Certification considered an asset.
- Required Journeyman Roofing Certificate from a recognized institute or working towards an apprenticeship.
- Valid First aid certification considered an Asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of Roofing processes and tasks
- Knowledge of various types of Roofs (Flat, Sloped, Metal)
- Demonstrated ability to use technology to report on project progression.
