**Manufacturing Department Technician - AME** **VIH Aerospace (VIHA)**, a global leader in Helicopter Manufacturing, Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MMRO) is looking to expand our team by hiring a **Manufacturing Department Technician** **WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR**: This is a full-time position based at the VIH Aerospace facility in Sidney, BC, Canada. Relocation services are not included in this opportunity. **RESPONSIBILITIES**: - Fabricate, assemble, and repair mechanical, sheet metal parts and soft goods. - Complete logs or worksheets for all work accomplished as directed. - Maintain and ensure a safe working environment. - Inspection of parts using a variety of precision measuring tools. - Assemble, rig and test aircraft components. - Read and understand technical manuals and instructions, and be able to use technical drawings, data, and standards. - Used basic and special tooling. **REQUIREMENTS and QUALIFICATIONS**: - Completion of secondary school is required. - Completion of a recognized course of studies achieving an AME certification either S or M is preferred. - An understanding of manufacturing processes and construction methods. - A good knowledge of material properties. - Good mechanical aptitude. - Good MS Office skills. - Ability to read and understand technical manuals, drawings and instructions. - Experience in "shop" environment (machine shop, sheet metal, welding, technical assembly). - Ability to follow directions provided. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to work independently, managing multiple priorities. - The ability to work overtime or unusual shifts, as required. - Possess a valid driver's license and good drivers abstract. **BENEFITS**: - Compensation for this position will be competitive with industry rates and experience. - Casual dress - Dental care - Extended health care - RRSP - Life insurance - On-site parking
