**PLANT MANAGER**
Reporting to the National Operations Manager and Senior Vice President, the Plant Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all plant operations in accordance with Company policies and standards in a manner that optimizes performance, quality and customer service. This includes producing and providing high quality finished material with consideration for quality, safety, operating expenses, inventory management, and on-time delivery.
**Core Responsibilities**:
- Directs the various production and yard employees in the preparation and implementation of plant operating plans and strategies consistent with the business plan and objectives.
- Working with the purchasing team, engineering team, sales team and customers to ensure the ordering and flow of material into the manufacturing operation as required to meet customer deliverables.
- Directs, develops and manages budget needed to support operational processes.
- Integrates new business requirements and products into the operational environment.
- Directs the maintenance and physical condition of all facilities through a systematic program of repairs and prevention.
- Provides training, coaching and development for production team members in areas of production, job function, health and safety and record-keeping.
- Ensures compliance with all standards for safe working conditions according to corporate and legislative health and safety standard.
- Provides accurate monthly inventory counts.
- Prepares production and other reports as required.
**Qualifications & Knowledge**:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive management experience in a steel manufacturing environment.
- Combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Demonstrated experience with and understanding of the relationship between all aspects of production including purchasing, sales, engineering requirements, inventory control and material tracking, equipment usage, yield analysis, overuse, and waste management, scheduling, labour management, quality assurance, safety, and on-floor maintenance.
- Experience with managing maintenance and repairs of equipment for a variety of mechanical presses, hydraulic presses, robotic material handling systems, forming equipment and welding equipment.
- Ability to read and understand engineering shop drawings with proficiency.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with persons at all levels of the organization.
- Proven leadership skills including the ability to facilitate teamwork.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of continuous improvement in manufacturing methods, layouts, equipment and techniques with particular consideration for production efficiency, safety, quality and cost reductions.
