Both Creative Writing and English are robust programs in the College of Arts with solid projections for continued growth and success. Creative Writing courses and English courses are highly invested in experiential learning and socially engaged learning, offering practical and creative knowledge-building to foster successful transition from the academic environment to the professional world. The School of Theatre, English and Creative Writing is a hub for disciplinary and interdisciplinary study and research at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and SOTEC faculty often teach and research across our various disciplines. Our programs are also linked to various inter and intra-disciplinary programs and practices, including Culture and Technology Studies; Black Canadian Studies; and Sexualities, Genders and Social Change. SOTEC is home to creative practice, research-creation, and advanced research and attracts a steady stream of graduate students.
