**Full-Time and Part-Time Contracts - Social Service Worker**

St. Leonard's Place Peel is a community based residential program that provides a place of safety, belonging, dignity, nourishment and education for homeless men with serious mental illness and those who have been in conflict with the law.

St. Leonard’s Place Peel will be opening an Out of the Cold program, which will run from Mid -November 2024 until Mid-March 2025. Reporting to the Out of The Cold Program Coordinator, we are looking to recruit a total of six (6) Social Service Workers for this four (4) month contract.

We are looking to recruit people who are committed to client care, have experience working with men that have experienced homelessness and have excellent communication skills.

**Key responsibilities include**:
**Client Care**
- Welcome clients to the program
- Complete intake paperwork and create/maintain electronic records
- Complete regular checks of the sleeping area to ensure client and staff safety
- Stay on site during the entire shift
- Communicate with shift partner regularly throughout the night
- Provide guests with healthy snacks and continental breakfasts
- Distribute hygiene kits and winter accessories to guests
- Conduct daily sanitization of facilities to ensure the health and safety of guests
- Ensure guests use designated eating and smoking areas
- Maintain documentation as per policies
- Recording and reporting all incidents
- Answering phone and responding to questions about the program and potential referrals
- Collaborate with community partners
- Responsible for tracking of health concerns reported
- Provide additional support to guests when required
- Assist with referrals and linkages to other programs
- Provide information to oncoming staff
- Read the communication log and update accordingly
- Assist with housing searches and providing community resources
- Ensure all IPAC measures are followed
- Laundry as required

**Education Requirements**
- Graduate of a recognized Social Service Worker or Criminal Justice Studies program; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

**Other Qualifications**
- Demonstrated experience working with homeless men who may have substance use and mental health issues
- Team player
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite software
- Superior crisis prevention and intervention skills
- Great problem-solving skills
- Excellent knowledge of community resources
- Current CPR/First Aid certificate.
- Clear Police check for vulnerable sector

Monday through Friday - 12:30am until 8:30am

Saturday through Sunday - 5:00pm until 1:00am

Saturday through Sunday - 12:30am until 8:30am
