Basic Purpose:
The Sales Manager is responsible for leading the revenue generation efforts for a group of area hotels through execution of sales strategies and active selling to and growing of assigned market segments. The Area Sales Manager works as part of the Sales, Marketing and Events team to achieve team and individual revenue goals. This position liaises with all hotel departments of the group of area hotels to ensure consistent high level service is delivered to each guest.

Major Responsibilities and Duties (to fulfill major purpose):
1. Secure new business and generate leads by prospecting and building relationships with high-value/key accounts within the assigned market segment.
2. Negotiates & prepares sales proposals and contracts, understanding legal terms and conditions.
3. Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly and annual sales revenue and activity quotas.
4. Effectively manage customer budgets to maximize revenue and meet customer needs.
5. Manage existing client relationships while seeking new business.
6. Review sales & marketing action plan and coordinate activities connected with assigned key market segments.
7. Provide input and ideas towards marketing and sales strategies.
8. Effectively prospect and solicit repeat and future group business.
9. Assist with budget allocation and input into business plans.
10. Prioritize time to ensure daily prospecting and proactive selling.
11. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Banquet, Front Desk, Kitchen, Maintenance department.
12. Maintain and update files, databases, account information and provide analysis and reporting on account activity, production, pace and trends.
13. Work closely and ensure regular contact with Brand National Sales and Manga Hotels National Sales Teams.
14. Understand the competition set of the assigned hotels and their business mix, is familiar with share shift strategies and actively targets the hotels’ and markets’ right fit business.
15. Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels; able to respond to and handle guest problems and complaints.
16. Review comment cards and guest satisfaction results related to Sales.
17. Emphasize guest satisfaction during all departmental meetings and focus on continuous improvement.
18. Attend pre-event meetings as needed to understand group needs.
19. Accurately forecast group sleeping rooms and event revenue for groups.
20. One stop shop for specific markets to include contract, rooming lists and beo’s.
21. Understand and abides by brands and company policies and procedures; can effectively communicate them to hotel associates and department heads.
22. Other related duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:

- Sets a positive example for guest relations.
- Able to work in a high volume environment.
- Effective sales skills to secure new business and up-sell products and services.
- Solid track record in business development and a proven negotiator.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills, with a high level of detail-orientation.
- Strong working knowledge of the sales process and sales cycle, including prospecting.
- Excels in adapting to various computer programs and software including Delphi, Opera and major Property Management Systems.
- Excellent organizational and written and verbal communication skills; strong problem solving skills.
- Flexible and energetic with ability to work well in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
- Hotel Catering experience preferred to include handling contracts, rooming lists and beo’s.
- Must be a professional individual with strong administrative skills.
- Ability to handle conflict and resolve problem situations in a level-headed manner while demonstrating customer service skills.

Working Conditions:

- Normal office working conditions.
- Lifting of supplies, material/collateral. From time to time the position will require long periods of standing.
- Some weekend, evening or holiday hours may be required.

' Outside local and regional travel will be required. Vehicle required.

Experience, Training and Education (demonstrating requirements):

- Minimum of one (1) year prior sales experience, preferably within the hotel/hospitality industry.
- Post-secondary education in hospitality sales/marketing, Hotel Management or Business Administration.
- Previous sales experience in selling a hotel preferred.

Experience in Sales within Association / Government markets would be an asset

**Salary**: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
