The Colchester East Hants Health Centre Foundation (CEHHCF) is a registered charitable organization that takes a leadership role in raising funds to continually enhance patient care at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre.
The Foundation is currently seeking a Communications Officer to complement its professional development team and be a key player in the execution of a new awareness campaign.
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Communications Officer will possess superior interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral), a strong work ethic, ability to pay strict attention to detail, time management skills, graphic design skills, experience handling a variety of assignments simultaneously, and the ability to handle private and sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy. This position will become the first point of contact for internal/external communications.
**Responsibilities**
- Provide assistance and support to the Executive Director with Foundation communication issues;
- Raise the profile and awareness of the Colchester East Hants Health Centre Foundation with relevant communities, target audiences, and the general public;
- Play a lead role in the Foundation's current marketing/awareness campaign;
- Develop and implement an annual communications plan/calendar utilizing opportunities from the marketing/awareness campaign;
- Management of the direct mail program, including responsibility for setting and adhering to timelines, liaison with mailing and print houses, creative, design, research, budget;
- Cultivate and create media opportunities;
- Write, design and create marketing and communication vehicles including print, web, direct mail, social media, advertising, etc.;
- Develop and manage the Colchester East Hants Health Centre Foundation website and social media channels;
- Develop and maintain policies for website and social media content;
- Develop and create funding proposals and a case for support for a variety of fundraising opportunities;
- Collaborate with and provide support to the Event Consultant;
- Coordination of board committees including but not limited to Communications, Fundraising and Marketing and Equipment and Funding Allocation Committees;
- Active participation and attendance at fundraising events and activities;
- Other communication duties as identified;
- Some general office support including but not limited to receiving and processing donations.
**Qualifications**
- Ideally you hold a degree in communications, public relations, journalism or English;
- Ideally three to five years of relevant experience;
- Excellent writing, editing, speaking, and presentation skills;
- Excellent computer skills including but not limited to Adobe InDesign Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, etc.) Microsoft Office Suite, website management software, social media channels;
- Ability to handle pressure and challenge with tact and diplomacy;
- Ability to develop and articulate a case for support;
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet deadlines;
- Ability to work in a team environment;
- Experience with the strategic use of social media;
- Experience working collaboratively with volunteers;
- Must have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle; and
- Adherence to the highest ethical standards.
