***Public Works Position**:
The Town of Lake Cowichan has an immediate opening for a full-time permanent position for a Category 3 Public Works position.

Lake Cowichan is a vibrant and growing community that is located on the eastern end of Cowichan Lake (26 km long) and the headwaters of the famous Cowichan River designated a heritage river. It is only one hour from the capital Victoria BC and 45 minutes from Nanaimo BC. A beautiful drive to Port Renfrew, only 45 minutes to the West coast, where one can find great fishing, surfing and other outdoor activities.

**Position**
The employee is expected to have a full knowledge of water, sanitary and stormwater infrastructure. Must have extensive experience of operating a rubber-tired backhoe. The individual will be expected to be able to undertake some outdoor all-weather work.

**Skills, Abilities and Requirements**
- Efficiently Operate a rubber tire backhoe and mini excavator (5 years’ experience).
- Class 3 /with air endorsement and Garbage truck experience or the willingness to train.
- Possess a grade 12 or equivalent education.
- Ability to maintain and repair municipal Lift and booster stations.
- Strong understanding and ability to repair and construct all municipal infrastructure, including roads, sidewalks, water, sewer, storm, snow removal etc.
- Be able to organize and execute work plans as assigned.
- Ability to perform tasks in confined spaces.
- Be physically fit and able to perform the duties required.
- Demonstrate initiative and ability to work cooperatively within a team environment.
- Experience in operating, troubleshooting, and basic repair of water and wastewater treatment equipment.
- Will be required to undergo and pass a police information check.

**Assets**
- Knowledge of basic process control systems and operating systems related to water and wastewater treatment.
- Knowledge of safety practices, procedures, and occupational hazards in water and wastewater treatment.
- EOCP certifications.

**What we offer**

**Salary**
This is a unionized position under the (USW Local 1-1937) and a Municipal Pension.
Wages of $37.53 and $39.40 (June 2025) plus $.75 premium per EOCP ticket, per level.

**The Town of Lake Cowichan will also evaluate and consider all other resumes with less experience and training.**Posting will be open until filled.**
